Lily POV

The last class of the day potions which also happens to be my favorite. Except this time was completely different.

"Can anyone tell me what this potion is, yes Miss. Evans."  professor Slughorn said
"It's Amortentia Professor, the strongest love potion in the world and it smells like whatever attracts that person." I had learned about it in my potions book that I studied all summer. "Very good Miss. Evans 10 points to Gryffindor." Slughorn boomed proudly "Here are your partners for the year in my class: Lily and James." At
least I wasn't with Snape."Bellatrix and Severus  Sirius and Remus." The rest where a blur as James had walked over to my table "Let's get one thing clear I am the boss in this partnership." I heard myself say
"Yes ma'am." James replied chuckling "I'll go get the ingredients."

I leaned into the finished cauldron of Amortentia it smelled like all the things I love except two things I couldn't recognize. "Lily what do you smell?"James asked "I smell fresh parchment, new books, home, and something that smells like the forest and watermelon shampoo?" Suddenly without thinking I did the most stupidest thing someone could do in this situation I sniffed James... and to my horror he smelt like a forest and watermelon shampoo just like the love potion did!

James POV

"Oh." I said trying to stay as casual sounding as a person who uses watermelon shampoo and who had just been sniffed by the girl he likes usually does in this situation "I-I smell a new broomstick handle the forest and... you." I muttered the last part as quietly as someone could while still even talking but somehow I still think she heard me. Now I've probably just ruined our friendship, just my luck.

Lily POV

Did he just say that he smells me?!! Oh my gosh why do I even care it's not like I smelled him in that potion... but I did and I just couldn't get over that. I had already told Alice, Marlene, and Mary this about a thousand times but I was still trying to grasp the impossible concept that I may or may not like James Potter.
