"Boys, enough with the stuffed bananas! Please put them down and join me at the table, we have important business to discuss," scolded our manager, Bryan, from the dining table.

We're currently in our apartment and the boys and I were just being our childish selves. You know, just casually having a stuffed banana war. Ashton and I were one team and Calum and Michael were our opposing team. The winning team gets ten dollars.

Bryan seemed quite annoyed because this was the fourth time he had told us to stop. I guess the boys noticed too because they plopped their bananas on the couch and were making their way towards the table.

We were all getting seated and settled. On my right was Michael, Calum was in front of me and Ashton was across from me. At the far end of the table sat Bryan with his hand clasped together on the table looking all serious.

"Thank you for finally listening to me. As you four know, we have some really important thing to talk about. You boys do know what we're discussing tonight, right?" Bryan said slowly as if we're a bunch of five year olds.

"Brie, we aren't five year olds so stop talking to us like we are!" Whined Calum as we all groaned nodding agreeing with him.

Bryan grunted not believing us, "why don't you prove it first."

"You suck Bryan" I said sticking my tongue out at him.

"So mature," Bryan mutters rolling his eyes. He sighs hopelessly then stiffens his posture. "Back to business,” he continues, “you all do know why I'm here tonight, correct?"

We all just lazily said, "Yes."

"Good. Now, let’s first begin with the qualification rules for this 'contest.' I was thinking that you should be at least the age of seventeen to participate because we need the kid around your age. We don't need nor do we want a thirteen year-old to join us on tour crying for their mommy. You guys cool with that?" Bryan said seeing if agreed.

I thought that was reasonable and a great rule and so did the boys. Rule number one, check.

"The person needs to be able to speak fluent English. We need to be able to understand it too, obviously." Bryan said in a 'duh' tone.

Rule number two, check.

“I want to hear some of your ideas since this mystery new member will be a new addition to your everyday lives and career.”

Ashton was the first to share, “They need to be able to play the piano because that’s what we’re looking for, a piano player.”

True.

Rule number three, check.

Michael spoke after, “they need to be able to compose their own songs. It’s just we write all our songs together as pairs so it would just be unfair if he didn’t,” another great rule.

Rule number four, check.

Calum added, “Don’t forget that the new guy has to be able to sing.”

“Those are good. Let me write this down. Needs to be able to play the piano, compose songs, and sing?” Bryan asks double checking before making it final. We all nod.

I just noticed something, “Are we allowing girls to enter the contest too?”

The room went silent. This seemed to not occur to them before.

It’s been five minutes and they’re still debating their votes. It only took me two minutes! Why is it taking them so long? I’m cool letting a girl join the band. It’s not a big deal in my opinion.
