Lucius' POV

I listened to Joules as she told me about her father's friends, the same ones who made her an experiment. I tightened my grip on her, that was terrible! Why would you do that to a kid? I felt wetness on my shirt and I knew Joules had been crying. Finally, I gained the courage to ask the one thing I wanted to know.
"Are you scared of me, Joules?" I asked.
"No Lucius, I'm not scared of you." She said.
"But you didn't trust me. I swear Joules, I wouldn't try anything if it wasn't what you wanted." I said sincerely.
"I...I know Lucius. And I do trust you, it's just....anytime I see someone laying on a bed like that, motioning me over, I just get scared. I'm sorry." She said, and I felt bad.
"Don't be sorry. I scared you, so I should be apologizing. And all I wanted was to hold you, and keep you warm. So, in sorry." I said.
"It's ok, it wasn't your fault." She said, and soon both of us drifted off to sleep.
