LILAH'S POV...
He stayed with me until i was discharged that afternoon. Mostly we just talked. I felt alive. Before he had came, i might as well be in the morgue. That's where i had wanted to be. The sling around my neck was heavy and uncomfortable. The stitches in my arm started to itch, then burn, but he stayed with me even though i complained.
We walked out of the hospital room together. He was holding my free hand tightly and i was gripping his. I was wearing the change of clothes Julie had left for me the night before. I paused outside the door. She was waiting for me at the front desk and i cringed when i saw her sad eyes.
Julie was the one who found me last night. I couldn't imagine the feeling she had when she discovered me, lying in a pool of blood and vomit. I shuddered. One more image to add to my list of nightmarish memories.
Hayden squeezed my hand and i continued walking towards her. He gave me the strength i needed. She saw him and raised an eyebrow, looking him up and down. He looked away uncomfortably. I coul tell she was already dissaproving of him but she didn't say anything about it. Her whole demenor oozed anger. Of course she was mad, i tried to kill myself.
"Come on Delilah. Get in the car." She sounded angry and i flinched away. Her eyes widened in disbelief. Hayden beside me sucked in a deep breath. She started again, "Delilah Stone. Don't make me say it again. Get your ass in the car." I cringed again, stepping behind Hayden.
He looked at me in shock, then concern. I shook my head and tears started stinging in my eyes. "Mrs. Stone, i think i should take her home." He spoke up and she looked furious. His voice was hard and cold and he grabbed my hand, pulling me past her.
I gripped his hand back, though my hands were shaking. Then he froze and turned to me sheepishy. "Delilah, .... i don't have my car." I just stared at him. He couldn't be serious. He furrowed his brow in concentration. Then, he pulled me by my hand to the back entrance of the hospital.
"Wait here, i promise i'll be back with my car as fast as i can." I nodded and he kissed me, slowly and sweetly. Tingles shot up my spine and my heart bounced around in my ribcage. When he finally broke away both of our breathing was sped up. I smiled and he ran off in the direction we came.
I settled down on the curb to wait until he came back with the car. I felt exhausted and leaned my head back against the cold stone of the building. it seemed like i had only been resting my eyes for a few minutes, but next thing i knew someone was shaking me awake.
I jolted upright with a gasp and he gripped my shoulders. I looked up into emerald green eyes and sighed. It was only Hayden. "Hey, i got the car." He smiled gently and i nodded, standing up and brushing myself off.
I stumbled, lightheaded from standing up to quick. Woah, the loss of blood really did affect me. The world spun and i flung my only good arm out to catch myself, clenching my eyes closed in anticipation of the impact. He caught me easily and i groaned as the world came to a jolting hault.
"Woah, shit, Lilah are you okay?" I nodded and steadied myself. He kept one arm around my waist as he led me to the car. I blushed. I flopped into the passengers seat with a sigh of relief. I didn't want to go home.
"Don't take me home." I pleaded, begging him with my eyes. He seemed to hesitate for a minute before nodding his silent agreement. I leaned my head back against the seat and closed my eyes.
We ended up at his house. Good enough for me. I stepped out of the car a bit nervously. I felt butterflies fluttering in my stomach at the idea of meeting his family. He led me into the house. He looked kind of nervous to.
