lovers
——

she notices, she doesn't notice early enough and she hates it

it all makes sense now, what seemed to be a weird disappearance now, all makes sense

it baffled her how she could think something was so nice, so sweet and sugary but it just all downfalls until you learn the truth. because something too nice, too sweet has to be too good to be true

of course she didn't want to believe it at first. she brushed off unnecessary or uncertain feelings about the whole thing. but you better know it when reality hit her, her eyes were saucers once her peripherals met with a purple bruise on the side of her best friends chest

not just one bruise no, but many

now, both sitting cross legged on top of the boy's bed. her, eyeing every bruise intensely, touching every mark on his chest, planning the murder of the bustard she had a mild idea who it would be. while the older, jungkook just watched her, silently, waiting for her voice to make an appearance

five whole long uncomfortable minutes and the brunette starts to get uncertain

he suddenly flinches when her cold index finger dabs lightly on the smallest bruise

she looks up from his chest, her eyes wide and filled with disappointment

he knows the disappointment is from whom

firstly, she's disappointed from jungkook for not telling her about the whole thing, he knows that. next, he also knows she's also disappointed at herself.

to that reason exactly is why he didn't want to tell her in the first place

he didn't want to fail her and she knows that

feeling a bit brave, jungkook managed to open his mouth and word out a syllable but to his unfortunate, he watches the pale girl get up from his bed and head out of the door

could it be? will she leave me? is she that mad?

fiddling with his fingers—something he always does while overthinking or worrying too much—he looks back at the door that made a small creak sound

he's now even more puzzled at the returning of the girl "stand," she orders "stand up jeon."

wincing internally at her cold words, he complies standing opposite to her, both facing each other face to face

she bends down— what?

using her same finger, he watches again as the girl applies ointment to his skin carefully. but he, foolishly was whining to himself at the burn and coldness it affects

jaehee notices jungkook squinting his eyes at every application, she softens at that. but she doesn't want to

she goes on, lighter, watching the boy's reaction. there was none this time, she sees him staring, plainly staring at her

jaehee clears her throat and jungkook prepares himself

both sitting back on the bed, jungkook gulps as the girl sighs while rubbing her temples

"when did this happen?" jungkook doesn't respond, jaehee repeats herself, but this time with a harder look "when did this happen jungkook?"

"monday night," he says plainly

jungkook could've fought back, he's strong enough. jaehee snickers darkly  "why the fuck didn't you defend yourself?" she says "when did he come back?"

he answers the latter "right after your birthday,"

"and where is he staying?" she grits her teeth

she planed it, she planed it all. every step taken and committed tomorrow is accounted. she's got it all figured out, all that'll happen once she heads to the location and out of it

jungkook sees the look in her eyes, "he's gone now, he won't come back," he moves closer reassuring her "it was just money that's all."

jaehee sighs, she doesn't ask how much but she offers "there's always place for you in seehyun's cafe. i think a barista uniform looks hot on you," she teases giving him a smile "bet. all the girls will be swooning." chuckling both, decreasing the thick tension present earlier, jungkook looks at her with soft eyes while she lays back on the bed

"i missed her, it's been a while." she mutters, jungkook knows what she's talking about

the break up

jungkook slowly lays down beside her, holding her hand and playing with it "you both knew it wasn't right," he whispers to her "we can both meet her in the cafe. if you'd like?"

jaehee looks to her left and gazed at his large eyes "not now, its too soon."

he understands, it's been five months. he gets it, but he's never experienced it

he never experienced heartbreak

jungkook always wanted a partner to love. he always wanted someone to hold their hand, to cuddle and to play with their hair. he knows he could do that with his best friend but, he couldn't call her, his

at that the last thought staining his mind he says "but i'm guessing you had a great time stalking me from the closet." he raises his eyebrow bringing back jaehee's attention

"about that." she nervously laughs
