I see the familiar face of Luke's mom Liz Hemmings drive up exactly 15 minutes later. I hop in the back and give them both a smile. I am still crushed about the whole Michael thing, but I am not gonna let that get in my way of having fun. After some small talk we pull up to a bowling alley. "Luke you remembered!" I laugh. I jump out of the car, thanking Liz in the process, and walk towards the bowling alley doors. I start to smile at the familiar sight of the blowing alley and remember all the old memories made there. "Why are you smiling so much?" Luke asks. "Just remembering all the old times spent in here," I explain. "How could we forget all those?!" He giggles. I walk up to the counter and give the guy my shoe size while Luke pays. As soon as the guy gives us our shoes we get a ball and head to lane 4. "Why do all the people who work here look so sketchy?" Luke questions. "Only Lucas Hemmings would notice that bowling employees looks sketchy," I laugh. "Well what else would I be asking?" he says smiling. "Good point. Now bowl before I take your turn!" I exclaim. Luke picks up the ball and turns to face me. "Umm I think you are supposed to face the other way, but I'm no bowling expert." I comment. Without a word he ducks his head down between his legs and tosses the ball. "Wow. Attention everyone. We have an expert bowler in lane 4." I say just loud enough for the people in the next lane to hear. "Thank you thank you," Luke says as he curtsies. After 4 more games of bowling and laughing, we decide to go to the arcade. "Luke you do know the purpose of arcade games right?" I ask as we enter the arcade doors. "Umm to play video games I guess," he says unsure of what I am trying to say. "Close, but they actually are used as child like casinos. You see these machines take all your money and allow you to have fun until you are all out of money. Point proven." I state proudly. "Emma, I'm pretty sure you are the only one who ever thought about anything like that. But I'm not the least surprised," he laughs. "OMG I SEE TEDDY BEARS!" I yell totally disregarding what Luke just said running over to the machine. "Luke do you mind attempting to get me a teddy bear?" I ask him sticking my lower lip out to make a pout. "Okay okay I will try but only because you laughed at all my jokes tonight," he says poking me in the side. "No problem, it was worth it," I say watching the arm of the machine drop down into the fluffy abyss. After 20 coins and 10 dollars wasted on one teddy bear, we both walk out with huge smiles. "You know Em, the first day of high school wasn't too bad was it?" He questions. "Actually, not too bad thanks to you Lucas," I laugh giving him a hug. He has no idea how much he has helped me. "Do you need a ride home?" Luke asks. "No thank you! Ashton is on his way now," I assure him. "Okay by the way, I had a lot of fun tonight. We should do it again sometime," he says. "But of course Mr. Hemmings, that would be lovely," I say in an English accent. As I say that Liz pulls up at the sidewalk to pick Luke up. Luke gives me a small wave and opens the door. "One more thing," Luke says. "What is it?" I say bursting with curiosity. "Your English accent is pure rubbish. I will have to teach you," he says laughing. "Anytime Luke," I say flashing him a smile way to big for my face. He steps in the car and the car rolls off. I take out my phone and text Ashton. "Had a great time, you almost here?" "Leaving now," he texts back. I learn against the brick wall, gripping the teddy bear Luke won for me. I hear distant voices and I look up, Calum's eyes meeting mine and I already know this isn't gonna end well.
