Fire fire
Burning bright
Scaring all those in sight
The furious fire fled fast
Tearing down everything within its path
It was a hot october spring day
The wind whispered and wrestled with the leaves
On the trees
All the kids were at school
The adults at work
The smoke rose quickly from the east
Helicopters came from the west
Darkness flooded the land rapidly
The sky was full with smoke
Filling up everyone's lungs
Enabling people to breathe and see
Eyelids become heavy and sore
They stung and ached
Lungs got tight and full
Noses got itchy
Schools were closed down
Houses evacuated
They all contained fright
waiting for the night
That they can fly their kite
And play princess and the knight
It was the mountains biggest fear
A gigantic fire
Roaming the streets of springwood
The kids and adults
All asking one question
When will this end?
When will this end?

PoesiaThis is a poem I wrote about a bushfire that came through my suburb a few years back. I wrote is for a school assignment and also entered a poetry slam but I didn't place. you might see that this relates to my recent story: Up In Smoke
