Chapter 20

The great hall

Later at 5.30pm they make their way to the great hall then when they get their they go up to the front with his dad. "Everyone quart-quart!" Everyone stops talking & looks at Stoick. "Ok I've got some big knows, Astrid... is... Pregnant again!"    

"What? Oh great his got two grand kids & another one or two on the why & I have none" Spritlowt says to himself lewdly then looks at his son with a glare. "Another one, it's just been 4 months & she's already pregnant again, god's!" Snotlowt shouts out. "Wow, they must have been having lots of fun!" Ruffnut says.   

"Yes-yes, I know this seems a bit fast after just 4 months but it's still great, now let's all congratulate them!" Then Hiccup palls his dad aside. "Dad, can Astrid & I speak to you alone please?" "Of course son, we can talk in the back" So they all go in the back with the kids.

"Ok son, what is it?" "Well it's a difficult mater... not terrible but still not good" "Ok, but what is it?" "Unfortunately Hiczeler... is half blind" "What?! Now that's just going to fare son... no Haddock has ever had anything like that or worse before & it can't start now we pride are self's on not being touched by Laufey, so what you're saying is impossible" 

No dad, it's true just ask Gothi, Hiczeler is half blind" "You're Sirius, oh no, this is not good not good atoll, that's part of the Haddock reputation gone, what are we going to do? That can't happen, wait, we won't let anyone now that she is half blind so no one will know the sham, the Haddock reputation will go on...yes, yes that's it"    

"Dad, how can you say that!? What we need to do is help her by making shore everyone is aware of the fact that she's half blind for her safety... not hiding her like she's an embarrassment!" "No, we can't do that, we can't destroy the Haddock reputation!" 

"Dad, I don't care about that right now... I know it's important to you but right now Hiczeler is more important no matter what everyone thinks!" "But son" "No dad, if you like it or not I'm going to make shore everyone is aware of the fact that Hiczeler is half blind!" "OK, ok son but" "Dad, does it really matter so much that she's got this problem? Sour it's not good but it's not so bad that she can't live a great life... & I'm not going to hide her problem away just course of this it will just course more problems" Then he turns to Astrid smiles & they leave with Stoick behind them.

Then when they get back at the front of the hall again everyone looks at him. "Everyone-everyone listen to me!" Everyone looks at Hiccup in curiosity. "Now everyone, unfortunately we have some bad news & when I tell you I don't want any one to start making mean comments, unfortunately min & Astrid's little Hiczeler is half blind & from now on you all will have to be careful around her!"

Then Spritlowt yells out with his fist in the are. "She's a curse on the village she's been touched by Laufey she shod be killed" Then lots start to agree with him & Astrid holds Hiczeler close to her. "Will do no such thing... she's not a curse on the village, she might be half blind but that doesn't mean she's a curse, she's just a poor victim of unfortunate circumstances but that does not mean she can't live a full life, & anyone who things over wise will have to answer to me & Toothless & he can get very angry & protective"    

"Oh, there you go again braking another rule like always, & whatever you say she has to be killed or you are dooming this whole village to death" Mildew says. "Oh shut up you old goat, & stop staring up trouble & making me & my family look bad!"

"Hiccup" Astrid says behind him in worry while holding Hiczeler close, then with Hicsol in his arms he goes to her & hugs his girls. "Don't worry mi-lady, I will not let anything happen to are little girl, I promise" "Son, as much as I hate to say this he's right" "Dad please, she's just a little girl & sourly you don't want your own grand daughter killed" "No of course not but she has been touched by Laufey what means we have too" 

Stoick puts his hands on Hiccup's shoulders as Hiccup holds Astrid & their kids closely. "I'm sorry son" Hiccup stands up fast. "No! I won't allow it,...what ever it takes I'm not letting are little girl be killed even if it means leaving this place" He bends down & grabs Astrid's hand, helps her up & puts his arm around her as he holds Hicsol. "Come-on mi-lady, let's go home" She smiles at him & they leave.

The young Haddock house

When they get home they feed the kids & put them to bed then they go to bed & they hug, Astrid sniffing in worry & Hiccup patting her head. "Hiccup, what are we going to do? I don't want to lose are little girl" "I don't either dear, don't worry I'll think of something I promise"    

She looks up at him & gives him a wet smile. "Oh Hiccup, you're so wonderful" He smiles. "Why thanks mi-lady, now let's just stop worrying & go to sleep" So they lay down, Astrid curled up in his arms with her head on his chest & him with his arms around her & they fall asleep.
