Adonis
So many conflicting emotions tore through me as she went limp in my arms. Just as I had been praying to see her again, there she appeared in all her drunken glory.
"Sir, should we call the police?" George, one of the security guards, asked from behind me.
"No," I replied, my eyes never leaving her face.
"Sir but—"
"I said no. Get my fiancé into the house please." I instructed.
When George informed me that Aphrodite had arrived, along with a brown-haired woman, I hadn't expected to find one passed out behind a bush and the other vandalising my car.
At first, I thought I was dreaming. But, no, the tall woman painting a penis on the hood of my car was the same woman I had been thinking about all day.
"What's with all the fuss big brother?" Apollo appeared beside me, whiskey in hand and smirk in place.
I hated that he was staying in my house but, since he had only moved from Greece about a week ago, he needed somewhere to stay while his property agent searched for an apartment that met his unreasonable expectations. He could have stayed at a hotel but apparently living with his pathetic older brother was a better option.
He hadn't bothered me yet. But, of course, my little brother had to show up at the worst moments.
"Who is that? Man, she is wasted!"
I ignored him and gently placed her onto the gravel, turning her so that she lay on her side. I fished my car keys from my sweatpants and unlocked the car.
Apollo watched as I opened one of the back doors before lifting Rosalina up and placing her in the back seat.
"Don't tell me you're taking her home when your future wife is passed out on the living room couch. I mean, I know you don't care much for her but have you seen the curves on that pretty little thing? At least your father picked a pretty decent woman to—"
"If she wakes up, tell her I'm taking Rose–Lisa home." I interrupted him.
His eyes widened. "Let me. You're a taken man, big brother. Let me see Miss Rose Lisa home."
The way his gaze darted to her filled me with rage. I slammed the door closed, holding my tongue as I did so. His disrespect for Aphrodite was one thing but the way he looked at Rosalina was another one entirely. I was filled with the urge to pull his eyeballs right out of their sockets but I couldn't let him see how much I cared about her.
He wouldn't dare touch Afro because he knew I didn't love her but with Rose...he wanted whatever I wanted. I had let him steal all he wanted multiple times but this time was different. There was no way in heaven nor hell's name that I would allow him anywhere near her. She deserved so much — I was not half the man who deserved her but Apollo...he was barely even a man.
I slipped into the driver's seat, reigning in my anger. It was only when I was reversing the car that Apollo noticed the addition to my car's paint job. All he did was laugh, raising his now empty whiskey glass to me.
I successfully ignored him until I was out of the gates. It was hard to think that we had once been close. Back when our parents were still together, we were as thick as thieves. I couldn't count how many times one of us received beatings in order to cover for the other. It had been me, him and our gardener's son Trevor: the naughtiest, happiest trio.
And then, our parents got divorced and my mom got custody of him. They left for Greece without even a goodbye. Every time he visited afterward, our relationship got worse. My dad was partly to blame — he always treated me better when Apollo was around. His insecure ass was convinced that Apollo was the product of an imaginary affair that my mom had with a good friend of his. While I looked exactly like him, Apollo was a carbon copy of our mother: wavy brown hair and steely grey eyes. Apollo was practically disowned by our father and the kid blamed me for it.
