Chapter 4 Confession

"Joe get up"

I open my eyes and see Hayes. His eyes are red and he looks miserable.

I'm still laying on Hayes and quickly get off.

"yea" I reply.

"Well I'm going to go home and get ready for school, alright?" he says.

"yea" I say real quietly.

He looks at me worried and then leaves.

I can't believe I kissed Hayes. What is wrong with me. I still have to talk to him about it.

I'm at the bus stop and see Hayes walking over and I quickly look down.

"Hey" Hayes says.

"Hi" I say keeping my eyes focused on the ground. 

"You okay?" Hayes asks.

" yea I- I'm fine" I reply stuttering.

The bus comes and I get on and find my seat. I see Hayes walking and he sits by me instead of in the back.

"You sure you're fine?" Hayes asks.

"Yea" I reply.

The rest of the ride to school is silent.

This week went by slow but Friday has finally come and the final bell rings and I'm free for two days.

I get home and plop in my bed. Of course no body is home. I'm always home alone but I'm used to it by now.

I put in my ear buds and start listening to music.

My phone vibrates and it's a text from Hayes.

Hayes : Can I come over?

Me : Sure

Hayes : alright I'll be there in a bit

I don't reply. I've been ignoring Hayes ever sense I kissed him. I guess I have to accept that I'm gay and that I like Hayes.

The door bell rings and I go to answer it. It's Hayes.

"Hey" Hayes says.

"Hi" I say.

Hayes walks in and we go up stairs.

I sit on my bed staring at the wall.

"I know something's up" Hayes says. "What happened?"

"Nothing" I reply.

"I can tell when you're lying. Were best friends you can tell me anything" he says back.

"Nothings wrong" I say.

"You won't even look at me just tell me what's up" Hayes says.

I look up at him and a tear runs down my face. He walks over to me.

"What's happened Joey?"

He never calls me Joey unless he is serious.

"Hayes" I say.

"Yea?" Hayes says.

"I like you" I say.

"What's so bad about that?" Hayes asks smiling.

I don't know what to say.

Hayes hugs me and I hug him back.

"Do you like me?" I ask Hayes.

"I don't know right now. Let's just try to figure things out over time" Hayes says.

"Okay" I reply.
