Eunwoo's POV

I slept until 1:00 PM the next day. I would've kept on sleeping but the sun was shining straight through my window directly onto my eyes. I sat up on my bed and rubbed my eyes but stopped quickly because they were red and sore. Suddenly, the memories of last night came flooding into my mind. It seemed impossible to me; the people who called me every week, the people who raised me for infancy, were suddenly gone from this world. Tears started to stream down my face once more and I hugged my knees to my face. The aching pain in my heart was almost too much to bear. Eventually, the tears stopped coming and I started to calm down a bit.

I checked my phone, and immediately received at least fifty messages from family and friends. It felt good, a little bit, to see that people cared. I read through the texts and emails and responded to a few. My mother's sister, Aunt Sunmi, had sent me a long email, trying to console me and she also talked about funeral plans. I felt bad for her since she and my mother were really close and they got together every Friday to bake cookies and cakes.

My uncles, aunts, cousins and grandparents had all sent messages basically all saying the same thing "We're sorry, hope everything's alright, our condolences, etc, etc". I appreciated them, but they got kind of annoying. Finally, I got to the texts from Jinjin, MJ, Sanha and Rocky. They all said "Can we come by today at 6?" I felt really lonely, so I brightened at the thought of some company. I also felt my heart warm, even after all the time that I had ignored them to be with my toxic girlfriend, my friends still cared about me.

I sent Jinjin a reply

HandsomeDude: Yeah, you guys can come over. Thanks.

OldSmolGuy: Great! Umm, we are really sorry about what happened and we missed you at school. Also, we are bringing someone else, if you dont mind.

HandsomeDude: Who?

OldSmolGuy: You'll see 😉😉😉

I was a little confused, but went with it anyways. I flopped down onto my bed and thought over what happened. I would have to miss a few days of school of course, so I should probably sent my teachers a few emails. Also, the funeral would have to be planned. I wanted the funeral to be as soon as possible. I needed them safely resting so their souls could peacefully sleep.

I wanted to take a nap, but my loudly growling stomach said otherwise. Groaning, I rolled out of bed and hastily pulled on some decent pants and a clean shirt. I made my way downstairs and I grabbed a piece of bread and stuck it in the toaster. As I was grabbing the butter from the fridge, my phone started ringing. I put the cold butter on the counter to soften and reached for my phone. The caller ID told me that my Uncle Kim was trying to reach me. I mentally took a very deep breath and answered.

"Hello Uncle Kim."

"Yes, good afternoon. I needed to call you about your parent death. Its about the money."

My Uncle Kim was my dad's older adopted brother. He was petty, snobbish, and rude. He never showed up to family events or for holidays at all, even when he was invited. The reason for this, as Uncle Kim stated, was that he was a busy man. He always said this as an excuse, but the true reason was because he was jealous of my father. Since my dad was his parents biological son, they gave him a huge amount of money when they died, but gave very little to Uncle Kim. He has always been bitter about it and was always trying to get some of my fathers money. I expected his call when my parents died.

"Has your parents lawyer read to you thier will yet?"

"No, I will be meeting with him tomorrow."

"Of course. Now, you understand that the contents of their will is very important to me, right? May I attend the reading? Only with your permission of course?"

Legally, he was allowed to attend, but I knew for a fact that he wouldn't be getting any money, so I decided to lie.

"Ummm, the lawyer told me that only the next of kin could attend. Sorry Uncle Kim, but ill tell you what it says."

"Well fine! Anyways, good bye."

He angerly hung up the phone. I was a little startled but Uncle Kim had always been an easily angered man, so I brushed it off and headed back to the toaster to retreive my finished toast.

I quickly ate my brunch and downed a glass of orange juice before plopping down on the coach to sleep a bit before my friends came over at 6.
