[Forewarning: Swearing Imminent]
[Edited: ✔️]~•~
Lex sat in her seat in class as she looked uninterestedly towards the teacher, writing on the whiteboard at the front. It had already been a week since the dinner and Lex was not easy to forgive her parents for setting her up with a stranger. But, she was already opening up again. There was no use in bitching and moaning about something so mundane like that longer than a few days. "Now, I want everyone to pass up your workbooks later, when class ends." Mrs Harvey announces loudly as she sat down in her seat, pushing her glasses up her thin nose before she focused on the papers on her desk.
Lex closed her eyes, deep in random thought, before a knock on the classroom door brought her out of her train of thought. "Excuse me, Mrs Harvey." Loraine's head peeked in, looking at the teacher pleadingly, there was distress present in her tone, as well. "Can I talk to Lex for a minute?" She asked, turning her head to look at Lex in the back. Mrs Harvey gave her permission and Lex stood from her desk before making her way out of class. Right as she stepped out and closed the door, her eyes immediately landed on Martha's crying figure behind Loraine.
"Hey, Martha, what's wrong?" She asked softly, going over to comfort the girl as she turned to Loraine. "What happened?" She asked Loraine after not getting an answer from Martha.
"The Coven Mothers," Loraine spoke, Lex's eyes widened when she heard the title. "Their sanctuary was broken into. There's still no word from France besides that, so, our parents don't know what else happened aside from that." Loraine said, brows furrowing, a crease forming in the middle.
"Do you know anything about it?" Lex asked, her voice starting to shake by the slightest. Loraine shook her head. Lex's eyes widened larger than before before she let go of Martha and stood a few inches in front of Loraine.
"What about the Coven Mothers? How's Regina? Did they say anything about my grandmother?" Lex asked, frantically bombarding Loraine with questions. Tears were starting to well up in her eyes as a tightening sensation appeared in her chest. It was hard to breathe properly for Lex. She cared dearly for her grandmother. Idolised her to no end. In some ways, they were both exactly alike.
"Calm down." Loraine said softly, putting her hands on Lex's shoulders. "There's no news about them yet, but, I'm sure your grandmother and Beatrice are both fine." She said, trying to convince the almost-crying Holloway witch. "Look, our parents have already called the school. They're letting us leave. So, we better get to our homes." Loraine continued. Lex nodded along with Martha as the three left. Leaving their things at the school. It wasn't anything useful, just textbooks.
Lex walked into her house, immediately the glum atmosphere hit her like a bullet. She felt tears start to build up in her eyes as she entered the house and walked to the kitchen, seeing her mother sitting on one of the dining chairs, her father kneeling in front of her mother, trying to calm her. Whispering reassurance as she wailed, emanating an aura of sorrow all over the house. Her emotions flew around the house, making everyone inside want to spill their eyes as well.
Her mother was a diamond in a sea of jewels. She was someone that Lex believes in deeply. Trusts without question. She would never want to see or witness her mother crying. But now she is, and it was painful to see, much less hear.
Her father arose from his kneeling position and walked to her, "Pack your things. We're leaving for Paris tomorrow morning." He simply said and continued on his way, up the stairs and into her parents' room. The sound of the bedroom door closing echoed through the house and silence followed. The soft sobs of the woman who'd raised her taking its place. Lex walked over to her mother and sat down on the chair beside her. "Mom..." She started, looking at her mother.
