Swan Song: A Prologue

The adrenaline of being onstage. The mad screaming of the fans pounding in my ears. The intensity of the band tearing out a beat. The insane joy of pyrotechnics and blacklight pulses flashing towards me, giving the audience glimpses of me as I wail on my guitar. My typical Saturday night.

I wish things would have turned out as well this time.

Instead, I've got an AK-47 trained on the center of my forehead, staring into the serpentine eyes of a man who I'd just met a day before, wondering how the hell I got caught in this situation. I could feel the scorching heat of the steam lifting from the vat of molten steel that lay below where we stood. The man, Leon Carr, is one of the most notorious men in the entire Western Hemisphere. With a rap sheet that could cover China, and not a single conviction, he is also one of the most dangerous men in the world. And I'm about to be his next victim.

You might ask, how in the hell did I get in this situation? Well, I probably should start at the beginning.
