Jerome drifted in and out of consciousness. He was aware of the slight swaying of the stretcher he had been laid out on, and then the feel of a prickly mattress under him. He was aware of another person standing over him, but he was pretty sure it wasn't the same person who had stood above him while he was laying in the pool. He felt someone pull off his soaking wet t-shirt and jeans, and tried to sit up to tell the person to stop, but his head swam and he fell back into the comfortable darkness.
