Love and Deceit

And I fell for those mischievous, deceitful green eyes

Before I knew it, my once beating heart was bared, unguarded before your eyes

Close enough to your body but never your closed-off heart

Dancing away from my grasp as you pull me closer, you always did ever so tight?

Every thought I had trained unto you but you were always stuck in the past

Hurt were you, haunted by your past

Isolating yourself from human contact but continuing to manipulate human emotions so easily

Jaundiced you became, sheltering yourself from the worst of harm

Kissed by moments of weakness

Are actually moments of strength but you’ve been wounded too badly to tell the difference

Returning back to that guarded cage you were taught to fly to at a young age

Seeking refuge from those who were possibilities at hope

Those who could free you from the past that keeps its clammy hands clenched tight around your heart, making you remember every time you were damaged

Underestimating emotions which remain everlasting and hold you captive

Your future diminishing every second you spend trapped in your own world

Vanishing from sight, vanquishing yourself, that’s what you are doing

Withering away as your external self dissolves piece by piece, a vast canvas of scars litter your skin, your internal self fighting a constant war, hopelessly losing

X is the number of times Death has tried to claim you

Your wings are clipped, but lean on me

A savior you aspire for

Because you feel helpless, unstable, reckless, tortured

Cast away in your time of need

Don’t close your heart to the world

I’ll be here for you, always, forever and more

Don’t turn me away

Every time you fall towards your darker moments I’ll catch you and bring you back to the surface

Forgive and forget those in the past for now you’re in the present; heading towards the future

Give yourself up to the emotion that’s caught your heart in an embrace, love

Love is all I have to give to you; in return, open your eyes to the world
