A long time ago, there was an old man, who lived near the woods of a small village.

His name unknown, his face unknown, some people didn't even know he even existed.

The only thing that truly was knows about this man is that he was a loner since his wife passed away.

He was often seen wandering through the woods.

He lived in a small house, without a television or radio, the only sound coming from the house were slow sad songs, the man sung himself.

On a misty morning the man was found dead in his house.

People began to become curious after they hadn't seen the man for weeks.

The fishermen, who saw the man each morning, looking at them from a safe distance, so that no one would recognize him, were the ones who called the cops.

He passed away in a terrible accident.

His face was ripped off and his hands were gone.

No one knows what happened that night and no one really wishes to know.

Some say the man never passed on.

Years have passed since the passing of the old man, nothing happened ever since, people forgot all about him, yet fishermen still tell tales.

Strange tales.

About a ghost watching them, from the spot, the old man used to stand.

There was something wrong with the ghost.

It has no face, only a strange big mouth, like a gaping hole.

And his arms like branches reaching down.

He never does a thing, sometimes it seems he's smiling, other times, the ghost seems tormented.

Last winter people in town started having strange dreams.

Ellen, a 13 year old girl, wrote in her diary about some dreams she had.

Day 1: I see the darkness spreading around me, I ask what is going on.

A voice answers me. "Is it the question or the answer you wish to know?"

It's an old man, or so it seems.

I asked his name, but he gave me none.

I asked to see him, but he refused.

Day 2: Yet again the darkness is spreading, I feel so lonely.

I'm in my street, walking home.

I hear something, I look around but nothings there.

When I turn back to go home there's a man standing near the woods.

I try not to disturb him, but he stares at me.

I can't see a face.

I ran home and got there safely with the strange feeling that this man was still staring at me.

Day 3: I'm in a room, all my friends are here, suddenly the light flicks off and on again.

Some people are missing.

The light flickers a couple of times.

Everything goes black.

I wake up in a cave, or something similar.

I have no idea where I am.

A man is standing in the dark, I can't see his face, but I hear him.

He's laughing silently.

He stretches his arms towards me, they're like branches, too long to be true.

I yell and scream and try to escape.

He grabs me by my shoulders.

Suddenly I can see him.

He has no face, only a mouth, like a broken egg, a gaping hole where his face should've been.

"You're dead."

Day four never was written, the girl died that evening , when walking home from a party.

She was found by the fishermen near the spot where the 'ghost' stood.

When they went closer to see what was laying beside the man, he started making a breaking noise and disappeared before them.

They told the cops what they had seen, but no one believed them of course.

People nowadays believe that when you look the man in the face, he will follow you in your dreams, telling you he's on his way for you.

And when you dream of him, telling you, you're next, expect him.

Some people call him The Boogeyman, others call him The Slenderman.

Some say he's just a myth, others believe he is the personification of death.

The angel who brings you to the other side.

I think it's up to you to decide what is and what is not.
