Audrey's POV
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
"Where do you think Halo would be?" I ask Brooke.
"Dairy Queen?" Brooke suggests, then she laughs.
"Do you really think she'd be getting ice cream right now?" I ask, "She has no money."
"She can sweet talk that 15 year old cashier," Brooke reminds me, and we begin to leave the woods.
"Right, she can always sweet talk Peter," I reply, "We'll leave Chandler and Xavier here, right?"
"Of course," Brooke says, "Xavier, or anyone else, can't know about Halo."
"It's a long walk to the Dairy Queen from here," I say, pulling out my keys and unlocking my truck, "She might not even be there yet."
Brooke hops in the passenger seat and nods, "Maybe we'll just catch up to her while she's walking."
I start my truck and pull out of the hospital, "Maybe we'll find her on the way. You look around for her, I need to keep my eyes on the road."
"Alright."
We drive through the slightly busy town, Brooke looking out the window. We finally get to the Dairy Queen parking lot, and I claim the first spot I see. I grab my wallet, Brooke giving me a confused look. "What? We're at DQ, might as well get a blizzard."
She laughs a little bit, getting out of the truck. We both stop, the first thing being seen is Halo. Her glowing skin and white dress contrasts greatly among the other couple of people there. She is talking to Peter, who is giving her some ice cream. Brooke takes off towards her, and I chase shortly behind.
"Halo, you can't just disappear like that!" Brooke whisper- yelled, hugging Halo.
I zoned out, seeing a boy staring at me. His skin was flawless, with sandy blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. (SEE SIDE IMAGE FOR THIS BOY)
He smirked and walked over to me. I felt my eyes change color, a feeling of nervousness consuming me. My pupils turn into slits, stinging my eyes. "Brooke, Halo. I need to go. Can you freeze time again?"
She whispers stop, but nothing happens, "I've been on land too long. Let's just get out of here." I looked back, seeing the boy continuing to walk towards us. But what caught me was that he had light purple eyes, with slits as pupils. I shake my head, and tell myself it's just my imagination, then I run off with Brooke and Halo coming behind me. My S'mores blizzard is still in my hand.
We all searched around for someplace for me to change. "Over here!" Halo said, pointing to an empty alley. I jumped in, letting my dragon form show. Wings grew out of my shoulders, my face enlongated into a snout, and my clothing ripping off. I felt my teeth sharpen, and spikes grow along my spine. Horns shot out of my head and my hair feel of my head, and it, along with my skin, is replaced with shiny red metallic scales. A tail grows from my tail bone, and the transformation is finished.
"You look like a red Night Fury!" Brooke laughs, "I just can't get over that!!"
Brooke continues her laughter, and then Halo joins in. But it stops when we hear footsteps advancing on us.
"Audrey!" Halo says, "Run, fly, get out of here before he finds you!"
"I can't. Other people would see me." I whispered, even though I know they can't understand the dragon language. I decide to try to take cover behind the turn of the alley.
