   Brenda's POV

I got to school 2 minutes before 1st period starts and Nate got there a minute after me. We rushed towards our shared periods. We got the usual bullying from everyone, especially the elementals. Once school was done, we decided to take a walk through the park. Once we get there we just sat on the benches talking.

   "I'm scared," I said.

"Why?" asked Nate, "Is it because we are finding out what we are tomorrow? I mean, I don't know if I even am an elementalist."

"Well, yah it is but, I just don't wanna get the confirmation that I am just one fucking stupid Mundane," I sighed.

"Hey, you are not a fucking stupid Mundane, you are my cute stupid Mundane," Nate said, which sent butterflies to my stomach.

We stayed silent for the rest of the time, watching the sun set. After the sun has set, we said our goodbyes and went to our houses. But even I, his best friend, doesn't know where his house is. I wanted to follow him to know where he lives, but I don't wanna be a stalker and he needs his privacy. So I walked back home. As usual, my parents are still not home, probably still walking their asses off. I walked upstairs to my room. I placed my bag beside my bed and went to my bathroom. I took a shower and looked at myself in the mirror. Still the same, strawberry blonde hair in a ponytail and my eyes still green. If I am a Mundane, like my parents, I would look the same tomorrow. But if not, I would have a strand of hair that is the same color as my element and my eyes would change top the same color as my element when I use my powers. After looking at myself for 2 minute straight, I decided to go to bed and await my 16 birthday tomorrow.

The Day After

   *Beep*  *Beep* *Beep*

I groaned as I woke up to my alarm clock. I didn't want to go to school today, I was too tired. The I remembered, it was my birthday. I shot straight up, running to the bathroom, I looked at myself in the mirror, same strawberry blonde hair and green eyes. I sighed, knowing this would happen, but I also had hopes of actually being an elementalist. I got ready for school and decided that I would wear less baggy clothes to impress Nate. I walked downstairs to be greeted by a cake. "Happy Birthday!" was written on it. I smiled knowing that my parents did this in their limited spare time. Not having time got eat the cake, I put in the fridge, planning on eating it later. I got out of the house and started walking towards the hill, then I remembered. It's also Nate's birthday. I totally forgot to bring him a gift. I didn't have time to go back, so I just decided to walk towards the hill. Once I got there, I saw Nate. His hair was darker. Suspicious. It wasn't as brown as before. But, his eyes were still blue. Besides, no element makes someone's hair darker besides Earth. Fire is red, Air is blue, Water is green, Earth is brown. I walked up to him, and when he saw me, his jaw dropped and his eyes bulged, in his hands were flowers, probably for my birthday. Guessing he was referring to my outfit, I decided to tell him that I forgot his birthday.

"Ok, look, I forgot it was your birthday because I was too focused if I was an elementalist and I decided to wear less baggy clothes to look less nerdy so that people would bugger off and not bully us," I rambled.

"No, it's not that, I mean you look really, I mean, really nice and um, this is for you," he said nervously while giving me the flowers. "And of all the colors why did you highlight your hair white?" Nate asked.

I did not remember seeing a white highlights in my hair neither did I remember highlighting my hair.

"What do you mean?" I asked curiously.

"Wait, so you didn't highlight your hair whatsoever?" Nate said questionably.

"NO!" I said panicking. I took my phone and looked at myself in the camera. There was a long white streak of hair that was extremely visible compared to by strawberry blonde hair. "What about your hair? Why is it darker?"

He paused, his eyes widened for a moment. As if I was catching one of his secrets again. "Um, I, uh, dyed, I mean, highlighted it black," he said stutteringly.

I noticed that he was lying but I let it go, probably something he doesn't want to talk about again. That was one thing I hated about him. I didn't have tie to fix my hair too, so we just went walking to school, not saying a word. Once we got there, people were looking at us. Or rather my highlight. We then, got in the school yard where the school hosted an even for people who just turned 16 and sorting them into their element.

"Wow, trying so hard to be an elementalist but you dyed your hair wrong bitch, " Mariana said.

I ignored her and kept walking with Nate. Then, I got blasted with a huge stream of water and was slammed into the school wall.

"I WAS TALKING TO YOU BITCH!" she said. I was dripping wet, but the same streak was still white. I wanted to fight back, but knowing what would happen, I just stood back up while Nate trying to help me and started walking again. At this point everyone was watching, including the teachers. They couldn't do anything because the elementals were stronger than them. Then, a huge rock slammed me from the side, knocking me to the ground.

"SHE WAS TALKING MUNDANE!" Jordan said. The I lost my temper. I turned to the elementals who were laughing and not knowingly I did some hands motions. The next thing I know, animals were attacking them. From a range of eagles, to wolves, to snakes. and it was just the elementals that were being attacked. I actually enjoyed the sight of them screaming in pain. No matter how hard they use their elements, the animals seem unfazed by it. Then from the corner of my eyes, I saw a mirror. And I looked straight at the mirror, my eyes were glowing white.
