Ford is the youngest out of his five siblings and he hates it. His parents and sisters are rarely home which means that he falls victim to his two older brothers who hate him for no reason.
Today is Tuesday and I just got home from school. I sat down on the couch and the doorbell rang. I got up and opened the door to see Derek. "Ugh." I said in disgust and closed the door. "Who was it, Ford?" Elaine asked coming downstairs. "Derek." I answered. "Why didn't you let him in?" She sighed opening the door. "Sorry about that, Derek." She said. "No problem." Derek replied coming inside.
"Out of my house!" I exclaimed and tried pushing him back outside. "Ford, stop." Elaine told me. "No! Dad said no boys unless him or mom are home." I replied. "Who's gonna tell?" Elaine asked moving me away from Derek so I couldn't push him. "Me." I answered. "Yeah, right. Who would believe you? You're just a little kid." Derek smirked. "Hey! Show some respect. I'm the one who decides whether or not to call our parents. And since my dad, JR and Zack aren't home, I'm the man of the house right now." I said to Derek matter of factly. "Don't worry about him, Derek. Let's go." Elaine told him.
"Hey! You're the only one home. You can't leave me alone." I said. "Shit, you're right." Elaine sighed. "You know what? I'm gonna make a deal with you. I will give you five bucks hush money, to not tell mom and dad I left you alone." Elaine bribed. "JR and Zack will tell when they find out that I'm home alone." I smirked. "Fine. I'll give you fifteen dollars, but give Zack and JR their halves." Elaine sighed giving me the money. "Okay. Bye. Use protection." I replied walking back into the living home. "Bye Ford. Don't say that." Elaine said as she left with Derek.
I watched tv until Zack and JR came home. "Where's Elaine?" John-Ryan asked. "She left with Derek an hour ago. She gave me hush money. And you two get five bucks too." I answered giving them the money. They took it and Zack asked me "Wait, she left you for an hour?" "Yeah. But I didn't even move. I sat on the couch for the whole hour." I answered. John-Ryan sighed and I said "Please don't be mad at me." "I'm pissed off at her, not you." John-Ryan replied.
"Okay. Where do you want to go for dinner?" Zack asked me. "Pizza Hut." I answered. "Okay." Zack replied. "I have to count my money. Can you come help?" I asked him. He nodded and walked to my room with me. I picked up my piggy bank and opened it up. I shook it and all the bills came out.
"You count this part and I'll count this part." Zack told me separating the mommy into two piles. I counted mine and it was $150. "How much do you have?" Zack asked. "$150. I counted twice to make sure." I answered. "I counted $170." Zack replied. "So all together, I have $320." I said. "Yeah. Nice job." Zack replied.
"Can you carry it? I don't want to lose it." I asked him. "Sure." He answered and put all the money in his coat pocket and zipped it up. We went back downstairs and John-Ryan was talking on his phone. "I don't care. You don't leave a fucking ten year old home alone!" He exclaimed. "Whatever. If you do it again, I will tell mom and dad." John-Ryan said and hung up. "Ya ready?" John-Ryan asked us. I nodded and we got into John-Ryan's car.
We pulled out of the driveway and started driving to Pizza Hut. "Do you know how much money this kid had saved up?" Zack asked John-Ryan. "How much?" John-Ryan answered. "$320." Zack replied. "There is no way you have $320 saved up." John-Ryan said in disbelief and looked at me in the rear view mirror. "I do. Zack has it." I replied. "How did you get that much money?" He asked. "I saved up for two years. And since I turned ten last year, everybody got me money because it was a big birthday." I answered. "Damn." John-Ryan replied.
We drove to Pizza Hut and ate dinner there. We finished dinner and drove to the mall. "Do you know what you want to get?" John-Ryan asked me as we went into the toy store. "Yeah." I answered and went to the Lego section. I saw the box on the top shelf and ran over to it. "That one." I said pointing to the Millennium Falcon. John-Ryan got it down and gave it to me. "Are you sure, buddy? It's really pricey. You could get like four Lego sets for the price of this one. It's $250 dollars including tax." Zack said.
"Zack, I've wanted it for two years. I saved my money for two years to buy it. I'm certain I want it." I told him. "Okay. Let's go pay for it." Zack replied. We walked to the checkout line and Zack took the money out of his pocket. He gave it to me and the lady scanned the Lego set. "Your total is $250." She told me. I gave her exactly $250 and she handed me the box. "Have a good night." The lady said. "You too." We replied. John-Ryan picked me up as we walked out of the mall and said "It's raining. Protect the box." I nodded and held tight onto the box so it wouldn't get wet. John-Ryan and Zack ran to the car and John-Ryan put me down in the back. "Thanks JR." I said. "No problem, bud." He replied getting into the driver's seat.
We drove home and it stopped raining as we pulled into the driveway. We walked inside and I went upstairs to my room. I put the Lego set on my bed and dad came into my room. "Dad! Look what I bought!" I exclaimed showing him. "Awesome, bud." He said. John-Ryan and Zack came into my room and dad walked out.

Zack gave me the rest of my money and I put it back into my piggy bank. "Ready to build it?" Zack asked. I nodded and we started building.
After three hours, we were halfway through and mom came into my room. "Ford, time for bed." Mom told me. "No! I want to finish building." I replied. "Honey, it's a school night. You can finish building it tomorrow." Mom said. "Fine." I sighed and Mom left the room. "Goodnight, buddy." Zack and John-Ryan said. "Goodnight." I replied putting the Millennium Falcon on my desk and putting all the pieces on the desk I changed into my pyjamas and went to bed.
