I look at her. She's smiling. Not because of me, because of her boyfriend Jake. He's a great guy don't get me wrong. But she's his. Not mine.
He gets to kiss her, he gets to tell her he loves her, he gets to touch her. But I'm stuck in the friend zone. Where did I go wrong? I've known her since we both learned to walk, our mums are best friends. I know what to do when she's down or how she acts when she's nervous she usually bounces her leg up and down, sometimes walks back and forth. But now it's his time to notice these little things about her. How her eyes light up when she sees dogs. How she smiles during walks on the beach.
It's his job to make her happy now , right? I'll just be the 'best friend' nothing more. She always looks out for me , making sure I was happy but how can I be happy when she's taken.
The ground disappears
I hold back the tears
I check my phone to see your face
Staring back as if to say

His hand rests on her waist, where I wish my hand could rest. I want her to be happy but with me, call it selfishness or whatever. But I love her , I really do. And I'm going to wait for her , no matter how long.
Because that's what you do for love.
