HELL

as yoongi walks back to the main entrance, his mind finds it's way back to jimin; his bright eyes clouded with glass tears and blood that stains the side of his mouth and down his robes. the sounds of his cries echo in his head and he has to force himself to focus on coming up with a story to tell the next guard. his hands begin to shake with nerves and he stuffs them in his pockets so the guard won't notice.
eventually he makes his way to the main door, and there stands the next guard. the boy jumps when he sees him, reaching a hand to his chest at the fright.
"sorry," yoongi smiles, "i thought i heard something down the hall, but it was a false alarm."
the boy smiles and steadies his breathing.
"no incidents?" he asks, and yoongi nods.
"none."
the boy nods and reaches his hand out to yoongi, "my name is taehyung, what's yours?"
yoongi raises an eyebrow at the familiar name, recognizing it to mean he's jeongguk's new boy.
"yoongi," he says, taking his right hand from his jeans pocket and shaking taehyung's hand.
"yoongi? oh! you're jeongguk's hyung," he says with a smile, dropping his hand to his side.
yoongi sighs, "unfortunately. you must be jeongguk's new lover,"
taehyung blushes and his eyes widen at the suggestion, "lover? wouldn't that be moving too fast? we've only been on one date," he stammers, face becoming redder with each word that stumbles from his lips.
"date?" yoongi asks, bewildered, "that kid wasn't kidding when he said he was serious," he mumbles below his breath.
yoongi turns to a door on the left side of the room and calls behind himself to taehyung, "i left something in the office, i'm just going to grab it and then i'll be leaving."
taehyung responds with a faint 'okay' as yoongi opens the door. he pulls the door closed behind him, looking to the desk in the corner, and hastily opening drawers in search of a key that might unlock jimin's chains.
each drawer is empty and yoongi's hope lessens with each bare drawer he sees. just as yoongi considers giving up and checking when he comes back, he tugs on the last drawer, only to find it locked.
quickly, with fear of taehyung wondering what's taking so long, yoongi pulls out his universal key and slips it into the lock.
yoongi holds his breath and tries to turn the key, letting out a breath of relief when it turns and the drawer slides open with a faint click. inside the drawer lies a key and yoongi grabs it with haste, stuffing it into his pocket as he closes the drawer and locks it again.
yoongi steps out of the office and closes the door again, heading back in the direction of the main door.
"i couldn't find it," yoongi starts, smiling at taehyung, "i must have left it at home after all."
taehyung smiles and nods, "ah okay, i'll see you later then?"
yoongi nods and opens the main door, "yeah, see you later taehyung."
taehyung waves from the door as yoongi flys away from the prison and back in the direction of his apartment.

once yoongi arrives to his apartment, he makes sure namjoon isn't around and double checks that he's locked the door before pulling the two keys out of his pocket. the universal key he was given is painted blue at the top, so he doesn't have to worry about forgetting which key is which. yoongi compares the two keys to make sure they are different and quickly discovers that they are.
they key from the drawer is longer and has less prongs. the new key looks much older and yoongi hopes that means it will work on the ancient chains that jimin is trapped in.
for a moment yoongi thinks of sneaking back to the prison after dark to unchain jimin, but he pushes the thought away when he is reminded that the two men were there before him. what if they came back to find jimin unchained? they would would beat him even more.
who's to say they wouldn't be there after dark anyway? yoongi forces himself to stop thinking, he'll never be able to sleep if all he can think about is jimin being beaten while he isn't there.

yoongi crawls into bed, plagued with exhaustion, but never falls asleep.
