The night was over quicker than when it started. I woke up at the crack of dawn to just barely see Blake's form disappearing into the forest. I realized that he wasn't joking, he really would leave me. So I ran to catch up with him, but I honestly didn't understand why. Maybe he put some sort of spell on me after I fell asleep, or maybe there was some other reason.
After I caught up to him, he turned around to face me and he glared into my sleepy green eyes.
"What did I say about being on time?" He growled at me.
"I-I am sorry Blake, I was really tired last night" I blushed and shied away from him.
"That is no excuse to being late! I was really tired too, but you don't see me sleeping in do you!?"
I flinched at his loud voice and I looked to the ground.
"I am truly sorry Blake, it won't happen again. I promise!" I looked up at him and tried to show him my best smile, but he had already walked away.
"Yeah but promises don't mean shit" He yelled.
I rolled my eyes then I ran to catch up with him again. He walked pretty quickly so I had to half walk half run to stay at the same pace as him. For most of that morning he ignored me and he only made any noise when he walked through piles of leaves.
During the time we were in the woods, I realized how silent shadow-knights are. They are trained to be trackers, hunters, and assassins, so they have to stay hidden and very quiet. Blake never made any noise, while I was over here crashing through leaves and stepping on branches.
Finally, Blake broke the silence and turned to me.
"If you plan on the whole forest hearing you coming a mile away, you're doing a great job." He glared at me and rolled his eyes.
"Well I am sorry that I'm walking like a normal person. Not everyone is as deadly silent as you"
As soon as I finished my last word, Blake was beside me within seconds and he scooped me up and threw me over his shoulder.
I gasped with surprise as he picked me up with ease and so suddenly.
"Uh Blake, what was that for?!"
He looked back at me with a smirk and sneered at me.
"Well you were being too loud and I don't feel like getting mauled by a werewolf today, so I took matters into my own hands"
I glanced away and silently scoffed.
"Ha, yeah literally"
Blake must have heard me because I felt him shift under me and when he spoke, his voice dripped in irritation.
"Well, I can just drop you now and leave you, but if the wolves find you, I am not going to come rescue you"
His tone of voice and his irritation signaled to me that he was serious, so I shut my mouth and kept quiet until I felt it was safe to speak. But that wasn't going to be for a while.
We left before the sun even rose, and by the time we stopped walking, the sun was completely hidden by the cover of darkness. Blake had put me down once we were out of the woods, but while walking through the fields, he made sure I was quiet and he kept me close to him. From the early morning, till the late evening, neither of us had spoken a single word after the argument we had. I was too scared to talk, and Blake didn't feel like putting up with my constant arguments.
The place we decided to rest at was a far off field of wheat, and we kept close to the ground to avoid being seen. From what I could tell, we must have been close to a new town, but that was just an idea.
