Two Days Ago

4:15 and the TV did a long beep sound. "Attention this is not a drill-" WHAT! "The cdc has now confirmed that the virus is deadly. Stay tuned for an update." And the TV shows the stations news page. "What! This isn't a drill? Is something bad actually happening?" I say afraid. "Calm down Blaire, we don't know that yet." Dad says. "Yeah, they just said the virus is deadly. Mom, dad you don't have your shots. You have to get them now before it's to late. They just confirmed it's deadly, so you have to get them before they stop handing them out." I inform. Mom and dad look at each other. "Honey I don't think that's necessary. Not right now at the moment." "Not necessary! Mom IT'S DEADLY! You heard it yourself. Please go get the shot now. Please!" I beg. Mom lets out a sigh. "Ok, I suppose. We'll be right back. Do not leave the house until." Mom says standing up with dad. I nod shakily, this can't be happening. Mom heads to the kitchen to grab her keys, dad behind her and they enter into the garage. We hear the garage door open and hear the car drive out.

"So, they didn't give us the shots-" Mom begins. "Yeah, they just talked about it on the news. They said you have to go today or tomorrow morning from five to eleven to get the last of the shots in the city. If you don't they won't give out shots anywhere else."
I tell her. Mom rubs her eyes. "Well we can't go today, we have to get back to work. We'll go tomorrow morning around eight or nine before going to work at twelve." Mom says rubbing her temples. "But..." I stopped myself, i couldn't argue with her because then she would argue about work first and other things later. I sigh trying to not roll my eyes. "Ok, yeah. Just please get the shot mom. I want you to be safe." I say my hand on her arm. That was the last time I saw them.

Mom and dad headed down stairs and out the door around 7:30am. Getting into dads car, they drove out on the road, and into the street on their way to the city. "I don't know why Blaire's so worried about this. It's not that serious, the mosquitoes only cause symptoms like a mild flu. Nausea, headaches, diarrhea. It's nothing crazy." Dad says slightly looking at mom and the road. "What? Why can't I get any signal?" Mom asked reaching out her phone towards the sky. Dad shrugs, "Mhmm, maybe somethings up with the communication network." Mom looks at him, "That makes no sense."

The City

They finally arrived into the city seeing multiple working men heading into the power plant. "Huh? What's going on?" Mom asked watching them head inside. "Maybe a generator failure." Dad says heading towards the nearest pharmacy. They park on the curb seeing a bunch of people surrounding the CDP pharmacy. Mom and dad get out, making their way towards the group. "What's going on?" Mom asks taking hold of dad. He shrugs, "A riot?" Dad suggest. Mom glares at him, he presses his lips together rising his brows. They approach the scene and mom taps a women. "Excuse me? What's going on?" The women faces mom. "They aren't letting us inside. Someone said they aren't supplying the vaccine shots anymore." "But it's just mosquitoes, it's nothing serious. The symptoms are like a flu." Mom says.

The women looks at her surprised. "You don't know? It's nothing like a flu. These mosquitoes, they have a parasite inside of them. When they bite you, yes they cause nausea, headaches, diarrhea, all those things a flu would cause. But then you start hyperventilating, you become pale and sweaty, weak like you ARE sick. You then start to vomit blood and fluid instead of food backup. Then you have seizures, and become paralyzed. You then act out erratically attacking anyone. The body then fails, you die, a few moments later, you come back, and begin to eat others." Mom and dad looked at her in shock. "H-how do you know this is true?" Mom asked. "It happened in the cdc. Someone who worked their told, it got out and half the city knows. That's why their here trying to get the vaccine shot. No one at the time thought it was serious, but once they found out about what happens to you, they all wanted the vaccine." She tells mom.
