Chapter five

Hannah's POV

It has been two months since my brother was shot and honestly I really wanted to figure this all out. My mom and dad haven't been themselves lately. They walk around with forced smiles on their faces and do their daily work at the hospital. I could tell they were just still upset about Leo, I mean who wouldn't be? Everyone was racking their brains to figure out who and why.

I had been going to school day after day and practice after practice and putting my studies before anything else. Walking zombie you could call me but if I didn't keep busy I would think of Leo. I don't want to cry anymore. I don't like feeling weak or seeming weak to other people.It just wasn't me.

So I went to school everyday , did the work , went to practice and games, and went home.

"Hey Hannah!" I looked up to see who exactly had called my name and when I did I wished that I'd just kept walking.

"Yes?" I asked.

"I heard your brother was a drug dealer who deserved what he got," she said. This was Skylar Adams, the bitch of high school whose aunt was the principle so she could get away with almost anything. She had had it out for me since the third grade when Jessica chose me over her. She was he typical cheerleader with light blonde hair that reached her waist, bright blue eyes and had flawless pretty skin.

I could feel my anger rising because I knew for a fact that my brother wasn't like that. Where did people even come up with this crap ? And why were they harrasing me? I mean my brother just died a month or two ago, give me a break !

"Leave me alone Skylar."

"Awe whats wrong Hanns? Can't handle the truth ?" Her little posse erupted with laughter. This is turning out to be a bad day. I felt the tears forming in my eyes but before I could run away from them I heard Jessica say ," Hey Skylar don't you have some jock to go fuck ? Oh wait, I think you already slept with all of them." Skylar's face turned beet red and she stormed off and her wannabes following.

"Thanks Jes, Ima go." Before I could leave my bestfriend put her arm around me and stopped me.

"Hannah, babe, stop letting people run over you. I know this is hard enough without that slut making comments but you and I both know what she said was a load of shit." I couldn't help but laugh and Jessica smiled.

"Yeah I guess so."

"Ready for the sleepover ?"

"Of course! And hey Jess, thanks...for being there for me ." I hugged her for what seemed like forever and as I felt  tears come down my face I realized that if no one else was there for me it would always be Jessica.

Jessica's POV

I was going to tell her tonight. I was going to tell her I had no idea how it happened or when. I was putting everything out there. Early today when she hugged me I almost told her; almost. So here we were in her room watching Catching Fire and I was debating with myself to tell her.

Just do it you big wuss.

I can't...were bestfriends and on top I'm a girl.

wuss.

I'm not a wuss I just can't .

As soon as I was about to say it her house phone rang. She looked to see who was calling and instantly I knew it was pretty bad.

"Yes Josh?" Oh yeah. Josh. The first guy to ever break Hannah's heart. He basically got caught fucking Skylar in the gym locker room. I had no idea why he was calling her after so many months. 

"Hannah, baby, I need a favor."

"Hell no Joshua! I refuse to do anymore favors for you. Matter of fact? Fuck off. I'm done. D.O.N.E" she yelled. I had never heard her go off like that. Not even when Skylar spilled her lunch on her. I started drawing invisible circles on her arm to calm her down. That always helped.

"Fine. Whatever Hannah. Oh and by the way?....You're brother was a drug dealer." At that I almost jumped across the phone to beat the living shit out of him.

"Whatever Joshua", Hannah said and I could tell she was on the verge of tears. I just held her all night after that. Figuring she didn't need any more drama in her life. So I kept my crush a secret.
