Alright, first entry on the first day of school? I’d say that’s fitting. This whole journal thing that my dad’s thought of, I don’t really get it but hey, I’m not one to say no to writing.

So yeah, first day. Usually, I wouldn’t be looking forward to this. Everyone says I’m smart but truth be told, I’ve never really liked school. I love learning but the people out there drive me nuts. But the fact that my sister moved in with us and will be going to the same school, I don’t know why but it’s actually making me in some way excited about all this.

I have a feeling she’ll be like Doug though. She’ll be popular and everyone’s going to want to be her friend. So perhaps we won’t really be spending that much time together in school since I’ve never really liked being in the limelight; but somehow, I have this feeling that her being here will make this year much more interesting.

Lauren’s POV

“Lo! Come on, we’re gonna be late!” Doug shouted as he honked on the car repeatedly.

“Coming!” Logan yelled back as he got out of his room and ran down the stairs and out to the car. Unlike Logan, I got ready quite early. Now hold your horses. I’m not really an eager beaver. I just couldn’t stay asleep. I kept waking up every hour and by 5am, I couldn’t go back to sleep anymore. Way too anxious I guess. I have no idea what to expect, even from my brothers. I haven’t been here for more than 24 hours but they’ve managed to surprise me with stuff I never knew about them, like Logan being the cause of delay every morning for starters.

I called shotgun so he took the backseat, which he didn’t seem to mind at all. He got in and lay down immediately.

“What? Still not enough sleep?” I asked, shocked as to how much my little brother seems to love sleeping. He was never like this in Miami.

“Mmmhmm.” Logan replied as he shut his eyes.

Doug turned the radio on and started driving. I looked out the window as we passed by a number of streets and houses. Everything around here was new to me. I didn’t even know where Chance Haven High School’s located.

“So is the school far?” I asked Doug.

“It takes around 10-15 minutes to get there by car, so we should be there soon.”

“Then why’s Logan sleeping if the trip’s so short?”

“That’s his favorite part of the morning.”

“Taking a nap on the way to school? Really?” I asked as Doug nodded.

“A very short one. Lo, get up, we’re here.” Doug said as he pulled over to park the car. Apparently everyone knows Doug drives a black Range Rover. So as expected, they were all staring, waiting for him to get off, which he did. And then he ran to the other side of the car to open the door for me, leaving everyone puzzled.

“Thanks.” I replied as Doug helped me get down the car.

“The usual? When we reach Matt’s car?” Doug asked Logan who was stretching at the backseat.

“Yup. Thanks.” Logan replied as I stared at him waiting for an explanation. “Doug will tell you all about it. Now go ahead. Everyone’s probably wondering who the hell you are.” he added, giving me a wink and a smile.

I was planning to stand there till I got the explanation I wanted but Doug was so much stronger than me. He put his arm around me and started walking towards the school. Yeah, he basically dragged me across the parking lot.
