"So, if you want to know, it's time for breakfast." Cole said, making his way down the hall. I walked after him, not knowing exactly what else to do. He was taking a totally different way from the one which I had been taking a few minutes earlier. I smelled something after a while. Food! Yeah, we had food at the asylum, of course, but it was so bland and often it was cold, too. There wasn't much to smell there, so it was exciting for me to realize that someone was making toast! How they had a toaster, I did not know. They have all sorts of shit, apparently. The explosives, for instance. Or the chloroform. Or the miniature microphone! Where in the world......? At least, toast it is!

"Good morning, Alice! Did you sleep well?" Macy asked when she saw me. I nodded, smiling at her. She gave me some toast with chocolate spreading on it, and I thanked her, sitting down on a chair. I studied my surroundings a bit. This looked a bit better than the other rooms. There was a large, oval table in the center, and chairs were around it. Macy was on one end making toast for everyone. Even Scream was eating, but I noticed that he had a considerably smaller piece of toast. No wonder he's so skinny. Do you think he chose to eat less?  Probably. Anyway it is, I decided not to question it.

Everyone else was here, too, and Sophie was sitting next to me. Or.....was it Sophie? I checked to see if her eyes were the usual blue. They weren't. They were green. "Good morning, Cathy!" I said cheerfully. She smiled at me, and continued eating her breakfast. There wasn't unusually much conversation. Scream was really quiet, not saying a single word. David and Max were talking a bit about some stuff, and Macy and Cole were, too. Cathy and I didn't talk much, either. The silence suited me, though. The workers used to try and make all sorts of conversation while I was eating. They asked me how I slept, if I had nightmares, if I saw anything unnaturally disturbing, and the sort. I hated it.

"So, Alice, how do you like it here?" Macy asked, noticing that I wasn't talking to anyone. I was long finished with my toast, unlike the others. How long can you take for a piece of bread?

"I haven't been here for that long. I don't really have an opinion, but it's better than my first impression of the place." I answered. Truthfully. The first time I'd been here I got a smile cut into my face. Oh how very wonderfully fun. David laughed, being the only one on the table. I glared at him, swearing under my breath.

"Well, I don't know if you have anywhere else to go, so you could as well get used to this place." She said, smiling. "I do still have an apartment in town--"

"No, you don't." David interrupted.

"What do you mean? Of course I do! It's still---" He interrupted me again.

"No, you don't. It was sold this morning. I'm not sure if it helps, but I brought some of your stuff here, if you might need it. There's that picture of you and your parents, too." My hands turned to fists as he came up with the subjects of my parents. A subject that he shouldn't even dare talk about. My parents? Forget it. My mom's dead. Died a year ago. And my dad............what did  happen to my dad? I wish I knew.

"Thank you very much." I said through gritted teeth, then stormed out of the room, planning on escaping as soon as possible.
