So, for the last six months (give or take a few), I've been working on this project for the My Hero Academia Big Bang. I'm super excited to finally share it with everyone! Basically, this a Secret Child AU, because I'm attached to biological Dad Might. It got a... little longer than I was anticipating. Hahahahah. :') Originally, it was meant to be 30k, but here we are. At 70k words. There was a lot of panicked screaming by the end.

I was paired with the super lovely Inno, who made a really pretty work of art that made me scream incoherently forever. I got her permission to embed it directly in the fic, so please tell her you liked the art when you get a chance!

Please read the warnings and proceed with caution. I promise that there's an eventual happy ending, but it takes a long time to get there. (That's why this is 70k and not... 30k.)

DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

CHAPTER ONE

A prelude.

IT begins, as many things do, with a simple hello and a bright smile.

Not that Toshinori realizes it at the time.

Nearing sixteen, Toshinori is notorious for ignoring his peers in favor of his single-minded focus on the goal of becoming Japan's best hero. It's lonely, sometimes, but it's a loneliness that he chose. Besides, the focus is a skill that was particularly helpful during the study periods where none of his classmates really studies since Torino-sensei was not in the study hall, fixing anyone who acted rambunctiously with his Glare of Doom.

Unfortunately, his concentration seemed rendered useless during his morning commute to U.A., every time that pretty girl sat across from him.

Peeking over the book he was supposed to be reading, he observed the girl. She was staring out the window with a pensive frown on her face, her fingers balled into a fist that she rested her chin on. There was a pencil tucked in the elegant twist of hair and glasses perched neatly on the bridge of her nose. Her other hand held onto a book.

He sunk back into his seat and fixed his eyes back on the words of the public transport system advertising—a shampoo product that might actually be useful for his hair. Part of him wanted to talk to her, at the very least say "hello," but there was a little nagging voice in the back of his head telling him that she wouldn't pay any attention to someone like him, scrawny and essentially quirkless as he was, since he practically broke his bones every time he used his quirk.
