It was nearly midnight, and Isabelle laid awake in the Slytherin girls dorm as she looked at the canopy of her bed, waiting for her roommates to fall asleep. She shared a dorm with Pansy, Daphne, and Milicent. Thankfully, all of the other girls were asleep.

Looking at her alarm clock, she sat up and grabbed her wand, quietly getting out of bed.

"Izzy?" Daphne whispered. Crap, she was caught. "Where are you going?"

Isabelle shook her head and looked at the illuminated wand Daphne held on her hand. "I just can't sleep. Don't worry about it, and go back to bed." she lied.

Thankfully, Daphne mumbled something, and went back to sleep. Isabelle made her way down to the common room with her wand lit, and looked around for Draco, not seeing the blond.

Frowning, she sat by the window that looked out underwater of the Black Lake, and sighed. "He probably won't even show up." she said to herself, feeling like an idiot as she magically lit the fireplace nearby.

"Well you're wrong." Draco said as he stood up from the chair he was in. making her jump a little. He then walked over towards her, his face having an unreadable expression, until he smiled slightly. "I honestly thought you wouldn't come."

She looked up at him and sighed, then glanced away. "Well I'm here. So what do you want."

Draco frowned a bit as he sat next to her, making her stiffen a little in her seat. "I want us to be friends again, Izzy. And before you say anything, let me just say that I don't give a damn what my father thinks about this. We made a promise years ago, and it was broken. Over the years, I have been a complete ass to you, and I apologize." He sighed and continued. "Believe it or not, it was not my idea to treat you in such a way. You can thank my father for that."

Isabelle looked back at him and held her hand up to stop him from going any further. "Well I am not sure you want to become friends with me again. There are things about me that you wouldn't like."

Draco interrupted her. "You mean like the vampire issue." This made her eyes widen at him. "My father already told me, and that doesn't change how I feel about you. Hell, you could be a ghoul for all I care. But I know you would never hurt me."

He was right. She would never hurt him, no matter what the situation. "What about your friends. They find out, you know they will go tell your father and mine. But if you are doing this because you want help with the task Voldermort gave you, then-"

He cut her off. "I'm not asking you this because of that, Izzy. And I really don't give a shit what my friends think. If they are truly my friends. they will accept you too. If not, then they can go shove a broom up their arses."

This made Isabelle smile a bit. "Well, then I suppose I'll accept then. Just don't go being a prat to me in public. Our friendship shouldn't be a secret."

He reached over and gently placed his hand on top of hers as he smiled a little. "I promise I won't." he said. She wrapped her hand around his and smiled back. "Good. And by the way, you have become a handsome guy. I'm sure any pure blood girl would be thrilled to be your girlfriend."

Draco looked at her and took his hand back, glancing away from Isabelle as he frowned a bit. "Yeah, I suppose so." he mumbled.

His actions made her frown as well. "Did I say something wrong?" Izzy asked. Then she sighed. "Bloody hell, Draco. I didn't mean anything bad. It was a compliment."

The blond nodded. "I know. Its just that I have no interest pureblood girls." He looked at her. "And no, I don't fancy guys, if that's what you're thinking."

This made her chuckle a little. "You said I, not me." she replied. Draco rolled his eyes and gave her another warm smile.

"Right. Well its late, and we should go to bed. I'll see you in the morning at breakfast. Goodnight." He stood up and left for the boy's dorms, leaving her alone.

"Goodnight, Dray." she whispered.

Draco had gone to bed and frowned. Why did he chicken out and say that? "I'm an idiot. Should have told her the truth." he mumbled to himself.

Meanwhile, Isabelle had gone back to bed as well, and smiled as she fell asleep. 'Well, being friends is a start.' she thought.

{The following morning at the Slytherin table in the Great Hall}

Isabelle looked down at her plate of food, just pushing the eggs around with her fork, not exactly hungry. She knew why, but couldn't say anything.

"Izzy, you need to eat, or you'll be sick later." Daphne said as she took a seat next to her. "Are you-" she stopped talking as Draco took a seat next to Isabelle. "Why are you sitting here, Malfoy? Shouldn't you be with Parkinson and the others?" Daphne asked bitterly.

Draco looked over at Daphne. "Because I came to visit Isabelle. She is my friend as well, Greengrass." he replied with a smug face as Izzy looked at him with a small smile.

Then she looked over at Daphne. "Please don't argue. Draco and I have decided to become friends again, and I don't want it to be an issue." she said. Then she looked at Draco. "Same goes for you. You promised not to be a jerk. That includes the smug face." she said.

His face fell and he frowned. "Sorry." he said. Then before anything else could be said, the rest of Draco's friends came and sat down as well. Pansy was the first to speak.

"What are you doing talking to her?" she asked the blond, avoiding eye contact with Isabelle.

Draco glared at Pansy. "Shut it, Pansy. I can socialize with my girlfriend if I damn well please." he said.

Isabelle looked over at him with wide eyes. "D..did you say girlfriend?" she asked, almost whispering it. At the same time, Pansy and Daphne's jaws dropped hearing Draco say this. "What?!" they said in unison.

Draco ignored the other two girls and looked at Isabelle. "That's what I really wanted to ask you last night." he said as he took her hand in his. "I just didn't have the courage to say it...."

Not saying a word, Isabelle stood up, and dragged Draco along with her out into the corridor. Stopping a few feet from the entrance to the Great Hall, she faced him. "You can just do that, Draco. What if I had said no? Then you and I would both look like arses." she said. "Learn to ask that kind of thing properly."

Draco stared at her for a moment, then spoke. "So that's a yes then?" he asked with a slight smile.

She sighed and rolled her eyes as she smiled, then gently grabbed him by the tie, pulling the blond to her. Not giving him a chance to react, she kissed his lips. He didn't hesitate to reciprocate it either. After a few moments of this, Isabelle pulled away and grinned. "What do you think?" she replied.

This was going to be a very interesting year........
