We were back in the car, Danny and I giving Steve the silent treatment, that was until Steve broke the silence.

"How's the arm?" he spoke with his gaze leveled at Danny.

"How's the jaw?" I interjected, adding sass into my tone,

"Fine," looking back over at Danny, who had smiled at my addition to the conversation. Danny met his gaze head on.

"Let's just not talk."

"You mean now or never again?"

"Just both, Okay?"

"Ya know I think I may know why your wife left you."

"Really?" Danny gets offended and meets my laughing gaze in the mirror then turns somewhat to look at Steve, who is almost completely facing Danny.

"Yeah, you're very sensitive."

Danny takes one hand off the wheel laughing, "I'm sensitive huh?"

"Yeah."

"You think I'm sensitive?"

"A little bit ya know."

"When did you come to the conclusion that I was sensitive huh?" he looks over slightly aggravated, "Was it when there was a bullet tearing through my flesh? Is that when I seemed sensitive to you? Huh?"

Steve just looked at him then back at my amused expression as I watched the very beginning of what I knew was going to be a great bromance. Even if they both had little attitudes and Navy Brat was just a little to cocky.

"I am happy that you are not afraid of anything," Danny continued oblivious, "Okay? I am glad that you have that G.I. Joe-thousand yard stare from chasing shoe bombers around the world, okay? But in civilized society, we have rules. Alright? It's the unspoken glue that separates us from Jackals and Hyenas, Alright?"

I'm guessing that he feels quite strongly about this.

"Jackals and hyenas?"

"YEAH, animal planet whatever, okay? The point is Rule number one, if you get somebody shot you APOLOGIZE!"

"I'm sorr-"

"Alright? You don't wait for a special occasion okay? Like birthdays or Freakin' President's day."

All the while Steve was apologizing I was chilling out just laughing my ass off in the back of the car petting a plush pink stuffed bunny, that was surprisingly large.

"Hey man I'm sorry okay? I said I'm sorry, I'm sincerely sorry. That's what I was trying to tell you last year, when this conversation first started."

"Your, uh, apology is noted, acceptance is pending." Danny spoke more calmly as he sped up.

"You let me know now."

"Yeah. I'll let you know."

"Make the next left up here."

Huh? "Why?" I spoke up from the back, Steve looked back at me with a grin as Danny took the left.

"I think I know someone who can help us."

5 minutes later we were climbing out of the car, well they stepped out I had to climb. As I tumbled out on the passengers side I fell into Steve's arms.

"Careful there soldier." He grinned at me. I just smirked stepping past him.

"Hands off there sailor." I tossed a wink back towards him, no harm in some casual flirting. I approached Danny and Steve led the way to a small Pearl Harbor gift shop. We looked at each other and shrugged following him inside.

We sat down at a metal table in the snack/eating area of the shop talking to Chin Ho Kelley, a former H.P.D. detective. Steve held up his phone towards Chin, beginning to speak.

"Her name is Chenchi."

Chin grabbed the corner of the phone and gazed sadly at the image of the emaciated girl, "Where did you find her?" he spoke looking up.

"Locked in a house, she came here to start a new life. They drugged her and turned her into a prostitute." At those words Danny and Chin winced.

I chimed in. "The guy we're looking for is high profile, Victor Hesse. CIA, FBI, Interpol. He's on everyone's radar. Which means he didn't just land here and get his passport stamped, he was back channeled in." I looked into Chin's eyes. He leaned back in his chair.

"Okay, and you think that the same network that brought this girl to the island, smuggled Hesse in?"

Steve interjected, "Well he made a fortune trafficking kids out of Malaysia, so?" he interlaced his fingers and braced his forearms on the table and leaned slightly forward.

"Alright, then you're looking for a Snakehead. Local Chinese gangs that specialize in human smuggling."

Danny leaned forward. "Okay, we need a name."

Chin laughed bitterly, "What? You kidding? Look at me, I'm a rubber gun now."

"Come on, you were on the force for 15 years," at this Chin looked away.

"Kay, look, I know a guy whose got ties to that world."

Steve interrupted him. "Great get us an into."

"Forget it. He's a former confidential informant. He trusts no one. Especially howlies."

At this I spoke, "He trusts you and you trust him." making eye contact.

Steve spoke up again. "So you talk to him then."

"I'm busy."

Danny spoke up with scorn in his voice, "What are you expecting a crime wave in the gift shop this afternoon."

"Look, I can't be a cop anymore."

"Why not?"

At this Chin raised his voice at Steve, "BECAUSE I CAN"T BE! Ya Understand?"

Now I knew that the H.P.D. accused Chin of skimming of the money seized from drug raids but I couldn't believe he did it, much less that they actually had proof and he wasn't in prison. Steve, ever so sensitive had to rile the poor man up. Damn Navy Brat. Chin turned to Danny and explained.

"H.P.D accused me of taking payoffs. So I'm the last person the department wants to see wearing a badge." He stood to leave, "I gotta go."

"This is going really well." Danny muttered and Steve just glared at him. I looked at the table and said loudly.

"Did you take the money?"

He stopped walking, "Excuse me?"

I turned in my chair and spoke again, "Did. You. Take the money?"

He looked at me, emotion swimming in his eyes and his voice raw. "No."

I stood and walked up to him. "Then come with us. And we don't need to talk about this again. Ever. This is your ticket back into the game. Call it whatever you want, I don't care but I need you."

He looked down then back at me, "How do you know you can trust me?"

"I don't." I said simply, "But I'm willing to take that chance, are you?"

Half an hour later after he quit his job, turned in his uniform and changed we gave him a gun and a new badge. He led us to His C.I. on his motorcycle and I followed behind him in my Jeep and the chuckle heads followed me in Danny's car. When we pulled into the parking lot we trailed behind him to a snack shack type of thing.

"Hey, Kakemono! How's it?" I watched with Steve and Danny as he clasped hands and brohugged the large man in the window.

"Good to see you my brother."
