Chapter 1

"KAEDE WAKE UP!"

I flutter my eyes open to my extremely annoying younger brother. Being that his face is mere inches away from mine. To simply fix this problem I place both my hands on his chest and haul him over to the right side of me, unfortunately for him this results in falling on the floor.

"Not now, Tsutomu. Can't you see I'm sleeping?" I say cuddling into my pillow, trying to get as comfortable as I once was.

"But I just wanted to ask you some thing. Why do you have to be so mean onee-chan?"

I sigh and slowly sit up, propping myself up with both arms and look over to the little boy sitting on the floor with puppy dog eyes. I furrow my eyebrows and frown. He always tries that with me but it never works. I am a girl that cannot be won over by anything. I bring my hand over to my mouth to cover an escaping yawn. Soon after I glance over to the clock on my nightstand.

"Tsutomu. It is 7:12 in the morning. What on earth could possibly be so important at this time?"

"It-"

"Wasn't my room door locked?"

"No onee-chan. It was open."

"Well what did I tell you about my door again?"

"That even when its not locked, it is locked on weekends untill 12:00 noon."

"And what is today, Tsutomu?"

"Sunday."

"Then why are you entering my territory so early?!

"Its important nee-chan!"

"What is so important?"

"Come down stairs to look! I want to show you!" Tsutomu says, a bit too excitedly if you'd ask me.

"You're asking for too much younger brother. First you wake me up, now I have to get up too?" I groan.

"Please nee-chan! Please please please! Do it for your beloved younger brother." he says growing a smile from ear to ear.

Groaning once more I remove the blanket from on top of me and shift my body to were I'm sitting on the corner of the bed.

"If its for something dumb, I'll kill you." I say shooting a small glare at my overly excited brother. He just nods and runs out of my room, past the bathroom, and down the stairs.

"Are you kidding me?"

"What is it onee-chan? I thought you always wanted a dog."

"Yeah. ONE dog. Not TEN." I say glancing over at the ten damned dogs my brother brought into the living room.

"Aw come onee-chaaaaaaan. We can't leave them on their own look at them! A pack of strays where no where to go. If we leave them on their own surely they'll get hunted and killed an get eaten my hungry travelers!" my brother says shooting me the puppy dog eyes for another try.

Though, I'm not really paying attention. I'm observing the strange dogs. Surely they're not a pack because none of them look alike whatsoever. I get a bit closer to the dogs and notice some of them have... Ninja head bands?

"Tsutomu. These dogs have ninja head bands. Do you know what that means?" I say kneeling over to him so my eyes can meet his. "That means that not only are these dogs trained and dangerous, but these dogs have a home. So we can't just keep them." I say, with a bit of pity for the boy. He looks up at me with a deep frown and sorrow clearly circling in his eyes. I can help but sigh heavily and place my hand on his head to ruffle his hair.
