Alex's POV

"Well, where do I start?" I say. "I lived right here for over ten years. My father left when I was young. My mother died when she got sick, my brother, who found this place, got lost into a hurricane."

"After that, I moved in with my cousin, whom committed suicide." I mumble the last part. "I started reading and writing about what had happened. The townspeople around here noticed it somehow and they decided for me to get a scholarship to King's College."

I look over to Anna and to Catherine. I smile gently.

"Once we got to the hotel, one of the workers pulled me aside after I had gotten my room key. She thanked me for everything and was really nice." I take a deep breath. "Turns out, I'm pretty famous around here. I became an inspiration to children. I went out to get lunch and to meet up with a childhood friend." Catherine wakes up from her nap and looks around.

"That's when I met Catherine and Anna." Catherine perked up at the sound of her name. "She asked me for an autograph, and I wrote down my number. A couple of days later I was asked to go to her Elementary School for a little Q&A session." I say plainly. "And I took Laf with me."

Laf smiles a little. I grin slightly and give another detail.

"It was fun, but the best part was when everyone thought Laf was a girl." I say, proudly. My classmates giggle a little bit on that part. "Overall it was great, besides him yelling at me in French." I mumble the last part.

"And that's it." I take out my phone and earbuds. "Anything else?"

"Why didn't you tell anyone?" Someone asks. I tense up a little bit.

"I didn't tell anyone because, one, I don't want people to worry about me. And two, if I told people before I was actually their friend, it would make me feel like they're just my friends because of pity. I would feel like they don't actually like me and are just there because I've had a bad past." I say. Others nod understandingly. "Is that it?"

Nobody asked any more questions. I put in my earbuds and listened to 'What the heck I gotta do' from 21 Chump Street. I sat down on the floor.
I sang softly. I looked up from my phone to see everyone either talking or sitting around. I caught John in the corner of my eye, I looked over to him and he walked over and sat next to me.

"And I was like, what the heck I gotta do to be with you." I sang softly. (I fucking love this song don't judge me)

"What the heck I gotta do." He joined in and grinned lightly.

"What the heck I gotta do to be with you." I sang.

"What the heck I gotta do." He sang, again.

"Tell me who I gotta be, for you to be with me." I looked over to him.

"You told her all of this in class?" He questioned, some students were looking over to us.

"Well yeah, I texted her, y'know, I was like," I did a motion to make it seem like I was texting someone. "What the heck I gotta do to be with you."

"Lololol" he sang. (how the fuck do you write that lmao)

"What the heck I gotta do to be with you."

"Roflol." He sang again.

"Tell me who I gotta be, for you to be with me."

"Smiley face." He said, and smiled at me.

"Yes!" I yelled and sprang up from my seat on the floor. I gained more attention. "Next thing you know, we're texting day and night, I trust her right away."

"Like woah."

"Ah, yo, I never met anyone like her bro." I sang and looked over to John. "Yo, she listens to all my problems, I let her copy all my homework"

"And then I lay it all on the line." I sang. "And she was like, no." (I ain't gonna write the echo shit.)

"She didn't say no exactly, I don't know." I sang. "Yeah, I was surprised, I'm a pretty great guy."

"So, I decided I needed to step my game up, it's to late to be shy." I stand up again. "So I got in front of the whole class one day, and I serenaded her."

"I was like, what the heck I gotta do to be with you."

"What the heck I gotta do, to be with you."

"Tell me who gotta be, for you to go to prom with me." I sang.

"You asked her to the prom?" He asked me.

"Yeah! I danced and everything." I said to him.

"Naomi, I know there's a reason you were transferred here to me." I sang. "Naomi, I know there's a reason this isn't luck, it's destiny. Naomi, you know me, will you go to prom with me?"

"I'll think about it." He replied.

"Yes!" I shouted and sat back down, we both earned a round of applause.

"That turned into Broadway in three seconds." I told John. "It was fun."

"Of course it would be like Broadway, because you're a star, at least to my eyes." He said. John you smooth motherfucker. My face heated up.

"Smooth John. Real smooth" I said to him.
