A day later, after two hours of questioning her neighbors without any new information Chloe sighted and decided to take a break. Since she almost was at her house anyways, she decided to get some last preparations for Trixie's birthday done. She had no ongoing murder case whereas she didn't need to feel bad about not being at the precinct. She pulled out her phone and called Lucifer.

"Detective", he could hear his smile even though the phone, "has there been a murder?"

"Uhm no, but I wanted to ask you whether you could come over and help me with some preparations for Trix's birthday tomorrow?", she leaned against her car parked in the driveway.

"I think Lux can be on its own for a few hours, I just need to get some stuff done. Let's say 30 minutes?"

"Sure, see you then", she said lighthearted before hanging up. She might have been a bit hasty but all of a sudden she felt a certain nervousness creeping up her spine. Lucifer and her hadn't really talked since the night at his place and somehow she wasn't completely sure where they stood in this relationship - partnership? - or at least if Lucifer was really sure about this commitment. However, she was about to find out in 30 minutes.

After taking another minute to calm her thoughts Chloe went inside and started baking brownies, what else, since they were her daughter's favourites. Once they were put in the oven she got up to her bedroom in order to change since there was some flour all over her jeans and some chocolate on her shirt. Just when the doorbell rang she pulled her beloved and, admittedly, worn out LAPD shirt over her head and headed down the stairs.

"Hey", she greeted the devil standing in front of her, as always waring a suit, before closing the door behind him, "thanks for coming over."

"Anything for you detective", Lucifer said in his seductive but still honest tone, that made Chloe blush a little, "sooo, you said you need to prepare your offspring's birthday, so what shall I do?"

"You will never stop calling her a offspring, will you?", she half laughed before telling him to hang up some decor stuff and to blow up some balloons.

An hour or so later, the two of them sat on the couch and were sipping some coffee in pleasant silence.

"Uhm Lucifer", Chloe broke the silence and turned so she could see his face, "I wondered if you might wanna come tomorrow, too. Of course there will be some friends of Trixie's and I know you don't really like children, but Dan and maybe Charlotte and Maze are coming too and even Ella promised to drop by. We wanted to go to the beach so yeah", Chloe started to trail off nervously, "Trixie would really love you to come", the detective smiled at the devil cautiously.

"Detective, are you sure you talking about Trixie?", Lucifer grinned suggestively.

"To be fair, I'd be also very happy if you'd come", the blonde said with a coy smile.

"And what would I get out of it?"

"Well, if you behave nicely", the detective grinned slyly, "I might have some plans for you later that evening", shy said trailing her hand down his chest.

"My, my detective, that sounds like a fair share", he said before taking her hand in his and getting up, "and now you have to go present shopping with me, since you're the one who talked me into this in the first place."

Chloe smiled. "But we have to be back before Trixie returns from my mom's, which is in", she drew a gaze at her phone, "two hours, so we better hurry."

Grabbing her keys the two of them left the house where Lucifer went straight for his car.

"Uh-uh", Chloe shook her head, "I'm not gonna let you drive.
