The slintering wooden handle feels natural as I line it up with the target. I intake a sharp breath, my eyes are focused on the target and the target alone. I flick my arms just as I was instructed, using all the power I can create from the rotation of my shoulders. The axe is flying through the air in front of me, a strong vibration runs through my rists as it strikes the target right in the centre. Perfect. I smile to my self as I retrieve it out of the target.

"A perfect bullseye, that's a pretty impressive strike you've got there Snow." The voice shocks me, but I manage to save my embarrassment and not jump out of my skin at the sound. I don't recognise the boy that stands before me. It annoys me how everyone knows who I am and I don't know who they are.

"I'm Theo." He sticks a hand out towards me. I hesitate and then place my axe on the floor before reaching my hand out to meet his.

"I'm Scarlet." I say as I pull back my hand and cross it across my torso.

"Everyone knows who you are Snow, but I'm going to be the first to look past that." I give him a look of confusion, urging him to explain further. "Word has it that you are looking for allies. Most people aren't going to want to team with you because your an obvious target of the rebels, but I can see your skills Snow. I know that you're going to be good in that arena, no matter what they throw at you. So, will you allie with me?"

"Thanks for the offer, but I think I'm good by myself." I reply instantly.

"You may be skilled Snow, but right now your not being very smart. I'm one of the strongest tributes here, and you can either have as an allie, or an enemy. it's your choice?" He has a point, he is probably about fifteen or sixteen and is bigger and definitely stronger than most of the other tributes. When I weigh my options the answer is obvious but I don't want to admit it.

"Fine. Allies?" I say reaching out my hand once more.

"Allies." He agrees with a nod of his head as he shakes my hand. As soon as he releases my hand he snatches the axe from where it lies at my feet. "You won't regret this Snow." He says just before marching away towards the first aid station with the axe in his hand and slicing the head clean off the dummy that was intended for CPR practice. He lets the axe clatter to the floor along with the lifeless head of the dummy then turns to me and sends me a wink. I want to laugh and roll my eyes at his arrogance and over confidence, but when I think about it I realise that he has a right to be confident and arrogant. I look around the room for my gaze only to be met by terrified faces all staring with horror at the dummies head lying along side the fallen axe. I may have managed to do exactly what I told Arrow I didn't want to do, but at least the allie I have made is a good allie. With Theo Vibiana by my side, I might actually have a chance in these games.
