Chapter 4 (Truth)

[knock knock]
"Coming," "Skye, You? What are you doing here, my dear?"
"Granny May?"
"Yes, dear it's me" Granny May said in a very delicate way.
"Granny May, please, I need your help. You are the only one who can help me, and I know at least you won't disappoint me too"
Granny May was a really old family member, she was my grandfather's sister. And she knew all the secrets and everything about our family. She loves me the most. I know, she will tell me about the oath.
Granny May brought two cups of tea and sat on the couch. She gave me one cup and took the other one. She lifted one leg on top of her other one and said.
"So, what do I owe this beautiful pleasure, sweetie?, What do you want to know dear?"
I took a sip, and said Granny, I want to know about the family oath.
She dropped the cup from her hand, and said "SAY WHAT?"
I said please you are my only hope, please tell me about it. It's eating me alive. I cannot eat properly, sleep properly, my mind is occupied 24/7 thinking about this oath! And how does that even concern me? Granny May, please don't let me down, I beg of you.
She said in a fragile voice, which seemed like she might actually cry anytime soon "Skye, my lovely and pretty grand daughter, you know, I always loved you more than your brother and even more than your parents. I will always do what is right for you, and I think now is the right time for you to know about the dark secret oath made by my brother. But, first promise me that you will not freak out!"
I said "promise granny, promise"
She said, "so listen, long time back, you know the story that your grandfather Joshua my brother was a very renowned and respected business man, right? And after he died your father inherited his money and everything. But, how do you think he was that rich? I mean something feels wrong, doesn't it? Think Skye, how do you think your father is that rich? I mean you people own so many plots all over the world. Doesn't this thing occur in your mind that how can you possibly, be that rich considering your father is just a normal businessman. The thing is that actually my brother Joshua, your grandfather was a MAFIA LEADER. He started his own gang, with his most trusted friends and then it became worldwide. He used to sell drugs and weapons to others. That is the reason he was so rich. But, he also had another problem, he needed a proper excuse to fool the police, and he needed something that can be justified for so much money. so he showed them that he is a very rich and successful businessman so that they do not question him, about how he was such a millionaire.So, he hired one of his best friend to handle the entire business. His name was Jonathan. He was also involved with the gang. But, he was feeling unsecured, he had this feeling that your grandpa I mean my brother, was mere using him for his own means. But, my brother Joshua was a great friend he could never even think of using his best friend. Jonathan wanted some sort of assurance that one day when he dies his next generation will get the money he earned, and will get what is rightfully his. So, he came up with this brilliant idea which is very stupid, that after he dies the next generation of both families will tie a knot and get married. But, it didn't go according to the plan. Both the families had sons and none of the family had a daughter, so, they made a pact that the next generation will get married, for some sort of assurance. The day you were born my brother promised his best friend Jonathan, that you will um well um marry his grandson Lucas."
I dropped my cup and looked straight in my Granny's eyes and said "WAIT, WHAT, WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY I WILL MARRY SOMEONE I DON'T EVEN KNOW? I MEAN WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL?"
Granny May tried to calm me down and said "Dear this is your fate please, don't get me wrong but, as much as I love you, you will have to abide this one. You cannot do anything about it."
"THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE, I WON'T ,NO, ,MY FATE, my destiny you say?"
