"Make a wish." Elle calls from the other side of Spence and he blows on his candles but they don't go out.
My eyebrows furrow until I hear Morgan say, "Come on, man. Blow, baby! Blow!"
"You guys are so mean! Spence, they're trick candles. They won't blow out." I tell him and kiss his cheek.
"Awe, mommy to the rescue." Morgan teases and I glare at him.
"Mommy?" Spence questions.
I say, "Ignore that idiot."
"Hey, Amanda. How old are you?" Derek asks and I giggle.
"You're not supposed to ask but twenty-three, if you must know." I state.
"Hope you like chocolate, Spence." I remark and start cutting the cake while Elle gets me a plate.
"You blew wax on the cake, man." Derek wines and Spence gets up.
"I think you and Spencer would make a really cut couple, Amanda." JJ states and Elle murmurs in agreement.
I choke my saliva when they say this and start to stutter, "W-Well, that's-that's just h-highly impossible--I'm not saying I don't like him but-"
They all laugh and I blush, ignoring them as I put a piece of cake on a plate and turn around, "Spence, it's your birthday, you get the first piece." I call and hold it out to him.
He walks back over and I go to talk to Gideon, "You're blushing. What did they say?" He asks.
I blush more, "They, uh, implied that Spence--Reid, I mean, and I would make a good couple." I tell him.
He opens his mouth but gets cut off by Spencer, "Hey, Mandy. Come get your slice." Spence calls.
I go to walk over but turn around and say, "You know, he's the only person in the world who has ever called me Mandy."
"Mandy." Spence calls again.
I start over again, "What is your favorite football team, Amanda?" Gideon asks.
I walk backwards, "Dallas Cowboys. I'm a Texan." I tell him.
I head over to Spence and sit beside him on the seat he saved for me, I lean my head on his shoulder and he reaches to pull my sweater over my shoulder making me smile. "Happy birthday, Spence. You're coming over for a Doctor Who and Star wars night, I'll even watch Star Trek for you." I whisper and he smiles brightly at me.
"I would love that." He whispers back and I put my head back on his shoulder, he reaches over to my sweater, again, and pulls it over my shoulder, again, but this time he holds his hand there so it won't fall again.
"Sorry, guys, the party's over." Hotch apologizes and we move to the conference room. "We're going to San Diego." Hotch tells us, handing out files with JJ.
"Not for the surfing, huh?" Derek questions.
JJ tells us, "They're calling him the Tommy Killer."
"Six women raped and murdered in their homes in the last three weeks." Hotch states and I lean into Spence for comfort and he reaches out, grasping my hand.
"Six in three weeks?" Elle asks.
Gideon says, "That's a short fuse."
"And getting shorter. The first two were eight days apart, then the next four in two weeks." Hotch replies.
Spence adds, "Rapid escalation."
"Do you think he is falling into a psychopathic frenzy?" I ask.
"No, he's too controlled for that." Hotch says as we all look at the files, Spence trying to turn a page and keep the file open with one hand, I giggle and let go of his hand, looking back at the papers. I feel him grab my hand and glance up to see a stapler keeping the file open, I smile and look back down. "See you on the plane." Hotch gets up.
Morgan asks, "Why the Tommy Killer?"
"You know the rock opera? Well, this unsub glued his victim's eyes wide open." Hotch says.
"Oh, God." I say and Spencer squeezes my hand.
"He wants them to see him." Spencer says.
Gideon realizes, "And feel him."
