Chapter Twenty Two

Ahh, sorry for the long wait!

Okay so we see things from a different perspective, but I needed to so you guys could see the whole picture here. This is a super short chapter, but more will be coming I promise.

     I call Jackson to meet me in my office. I've been genuinely surprised with the resilience of Cain's mate. Kara was her name.

I make my way up the stairs from the torture room and head over to my office. I think I have the perfect plan to accomplish humiliating Cain and taking over his pack, but Kara needs to play her part. Luckily, she won't have to act and will probably do this all herself. Cain has no right to sit on that godforsaken throne when it's mine. His family took it away and forced my family and pack to become rogues.

I'm an Alpha. I belong on the throne.

I enter my office and take a seat at my desk. It's a dark, polished wood that I managed to salvage a while ago. My place here isn't all the nicest, but it does the job and is hidden very well.

I pace around the room, thinking of where to drop Kara off that someone will be able to find her. I need her to not run away and still have affiliations with Cain. That's really the only way this plan works out. She makes him weak and I have to follow up on that and seize this moment.

A knock sounds on the door and I hear Jackson's voice.

"Sir," he says through the door.

"Come in," I say and the door opens.

He takes care to close it behind him and steps up to my desk. I stop pacing and place my hands on the back of my chair.

"You had a plan?" he asks.

"Yes. We're giving her back," I say.

Jackson shifts uncomfortably on his feet. He wants to say something, I can tell.

"Tell me, Jackson," I say, impatient.

"With all due respect, sir, I don't know if that's the best idea," he says.

"It is. I know it is because I have a plan figured out. Kara hates Cain at this point and now that she does, she can be the downfall of him and his pack. If she rejects him, especially after the marking, he'll be torn apart. Losing her will break him and make it easy for the pack to lose respect for him. His father's already dead, thanks to you, and everyone's already probably on thin ice with him. He's a young kid who doesn't have the full respect of the pack now. Kara will make him weak and they'll have to look to someone strong. Someone who can actually lead them. That can be me. I can swoop in, overthrow Cain, and get the land I was always supposed to have anyways," I say.

"So you're using Kara as your weapon, but she doesn't even know it," Jackson says as if testing the words out.

"Yes! That's the best part! She doesn't even know she's helping me take over," I say.

Jackson pauses for a minute.

"What if she gets over him and they team up to find us?" he asks.

"After we put Kara in an inconspicuous spot, we'll move facilities. I have another place that we can set up in. Plus, if they decide they do want to find us and try to track us down, they won't be able to. We can kill him a different time and come up with a new plan if necessary," I say, thinking ahead.

I knew he was going to wonder about that. Now that everything's set, I look at my right hand man, Jackson, waiting for an answer. Jackson is the first person I normally tell my plans.

"I think it's a go. She breaks him and causes chaos and discord in the pack, then we sweep in and take care of it. They'll have no choice but to respect you and see you as the Alpha you were meant to be," Jackson says.

I grin. I'm glad he supports because I probably would've had to kill him if he didn't. I actually like Jackson though. He's probably a little older than my 28 years of age, and he's grown on me I guess. Anyways, I'll have to let Dr. Banks in on the plan, but he's always been one to follow my orders and do what I say.

I dismiss Jackson as I take some time to myself. God, I can almost taste the power that's yet to come.

Oof, so now we're all looped in on the big plan. At least Kara's going home!
