The Nightmares

"Charlie! Charlie it hurts." she cried, "I know sweetie, its just a scratch." I told her and picked her up. I carried her back inside and grabbed the first aid kit. I cleaned her knee and put a band-aid over her new cut. "Thank you sissy, I feel better." she smiled and jumped down and went back outside. I smiled and stood up and turned around. I was in the car, looking out the window listening to my music like I always did.

 Sophia was in the back with her favorite stuffed animal, Crystal the Koala. My dad was driving, it was really late. A car came out of no where hitting mine and Sophies side. BANG. The airbags deployed, my ears rang horribly I looked over my dad was asking me if I was okay. My head pounded, I seen him freaking out and I looked in the back seat, she layed there.

  I layed my head back on the headrest, the ambulance and fire trucks came. They cut us out of the car and I blacked out. Then I was in the hospital, my arm was in a cast my head hurt so badly. I touched where it hurt there were stitches. "MOM? DAD?"  I cried out the machine that monitors my heart started going off, a nurse rushed in.

"What happened? Whats going on?" I started to freak out. " Its okay honey you are okay you were in a car accident." she told me.  Oh no. "Wheres my dad, is Sophie okay?" I remembered she was on the side with me. "Your dad is in the next room he is fine." She said, not answering my question about Sophie. "And my sister?" I asked again. I seen that look on her face.

"NO!NO!NO!NO!" I cried out. "Im so sorry baby." she said. I continued to cry out, I felt someone shaking me. I jolted up, pulling my knife and putting it to a figures throat about to cut, but he grabbed my wrist. "Charlie, its okay. Its okay, it was only a dream." he said, I was panting, "Beckett?" I asked quietly "Yes." he let go of my wrist slowly and I put my knife away.

"Im sorry." I told him and sat up, he sat down next to me and Drax jumped up and layed down. "Was it about your sister?" he asked me. A tear fell from my face, "Yea." I admitted and wiped away the tear. "Im sorry." he said and touched my hand. "What time it it?" I changed the subject. He looked at his watch and pressed a button and it lit up, "5:32." he said.

"Im sorry I woke you up." I told him. "Its okay. It reminds me that im not alone anymore." He told me. "I guess thats true." I gave a faint smile. The sun started to rise, and I could barely see his face again. We sat there until 6 hit, then we started getting ready for today's journey. After we were done packing we sat together and ate. 

When we were done we left, Drax on my left side, Beckett on my right. We walked in pretty much silence. Some storm clouds came in, and we pulled out our jackets and put them on. I felt bad because Drax didnt have one hes gonna be freezing when the rain The sun started to set slowly.

" Tonight is gonna be really cold" Beckett said. "Yea we better find a warm place and make a fire poor Drax is probably freezing." I replied. As if he knew we were talking to him he looked up at me, I patted him on his head. The rain started to ease up but it was still cold and its only going to get worse.

We didnt come across a town or any houses and it was dark outside. We kept walking, I didnt want to keep Drax out in the cold. We found a truck on the side of the road, it was empty. We piled in, there was barely enough room for all of us to fit inside. Drax layed down on the floor,  Beckett and I sat on the seats. It was pretty cold, but I am happy that we are not sleeping on the wet ground.

I pulled my bag off and pulled out some of the food I had left. We ate in silence and I shared mine with Drax. When we finished  we decided to go to sleep. Drax was shivering really badly I took off my  jacket and put it over him it was almost dry but it will  keep him warm.

I laid my head back and tried to fall asleep. Beckett was already asleep he must have been really tired.

I woke up to Beckett shaking me, "Charlie! Hey its just a dream it is okay it's just a dream!" He told me "My god you're freezing! Come here." He pulled me into his chest and tried to warm me up. I slowed my breathing down slowly. "What was it about?" He asked me, "I-i dont know I dont remember." I told him.

"Its okay, it's all over now just try to go back to sleep i will keep you warm." He said and I fell back asleep. Feeling the warmth of another person was great I hadn't felt that since before all this started. I embraced it just this once.
