Special Mention:
I had written this short story quite some time back for another site and when I finally became active here, Harshu requested me to post this story here . I tried to do it as a Valentine gift for her, but then... as is my wont, I ran out of time.
Still, it is finally up - a sort of Valentine's gift for all my lovely readers, old and new.

"And still, after all this time, the Sun has never said to the Earth, 'You owe me.'
Look what happens with a love like that, it lights up the sky"
~Rumi~
Those are such beautiful lines and I have often wondered if there ever could be a love like that in the real world, the world inhabited by the likes of you and me, where our lives revolve around the mundane and necessary activities, studies, jobs, families, making dinners, and generally living a life as such. I was sure that a love like this would be only for story books and I would never be able to see one, till we were blessed with our golden couple (trust the Gods to have a sense of humour – I did get to see one, even if it was a vicarious experience).
But despite the deep love that Sanskaar and Swara have for each other, most of us, okay at least some of us, have often felt that the intensity and depth of love that Sanskaar has for Swara could never be returned in equal measure by Swara. Sanskaar loves Swara, like the sun loves the earth, with a blazing fiery intensity that could light up the world and yet burn everything else in its path. Similar to the sun, as long as he was allowed to love her, it is enough for him, though at times he does slip into the human mode and wants or demands that he be loved in return. I had always been a trifle disappointed that Swara could never match his intensity till the full meaning of the analogy struck me.
Though she does not love him as equally as he does, she loves him in equivalent measure, much as the earth loves the sun. The sun can be cruel; the blazing fires of his love sometimes, burn the very earth he loves, but the earth bears it all and with a smile. The sun can sulk and hide behind the clouds but the earth never shies away. The sun is unwavering in his love but the earth is unswerving in her path too, despite the many rotations she makes, often turning her face away from the sun, she will always revolve around him.
Swara and Sanskaar might never love each other as equally as one does the other but it is a very equivalent love, it is indeed ........
