Sorry for the long wait...this chapter was a beast.

I was never the one to go out to parties and clubs. My kind of night was snuggling up to a good book or plopping onto the couch to watch a movie with my dog. So being invited to a party hosted by the rulers of Asgard was perfectly bizarre for me.

The sad thing was I was more scared of being around Odin at the party than anyone else. Although Loki was accompanying me, there was still an edge that blistered inside me. I just hoped that the night would move along swiftly with no interrogations or accidental slip ups.

I also hoped Redessa would not be there to make things even more horrible than was expected. I also secretly loathed her for being so flirtatious around Loki, when she clearly didn't belong to him anymore. At least I didn't think so...I couldn't tell. There were a few moments when Loki would helplessly flirt with Redessa right in front of me. But then a few nights ago, when I asked Loki about her, he acting nonchalant about it like nothing was going on. But at that moment...I didn't even know how Loki felt about me, let alone Redessa.

"...Why the long face?"

I looked up from my fingers and into Loki's eyes. He frowned. I shook my head and insisted with a smile,"Oh, nothing. Just nervous."

Loki's grip on my arm tightened as he spoke,"Nerve is normal. But I assure you, everything will be just fine."

I found my eyes roll. "I wouldn't be so sure."

Loki's eyes were on me for some time, as we glided down a few corridors, and he insisted I met him halfway. I obeyed and looked him in the eyes, where I noticed his frown had arranged into a smile. "You look beautiful. Everything will be fine." He reassured.

I felt my cheeks burn in reaction to Loki's compliment. I crinkled my nose trying to force it away, but the heat in my cheeks was persistant to stay. Even as we arrived to at the Great Hall, I still felt fluttered. Luckily Loki stopped behind the closed doors, giving me time to compose myself, again asking if I was ready.

I wasn't...but I answered halfheartedly with a yes.

Without another word Loki pushed open the large doors to the Great Hall. It all looked fantastic. The whole hall was decorated with golden eccesories. Golden drapes, golden flowers, golden sparkles, golden china, golden tablecloths, golden chandeliers, and more. A long table stretched out to the end of the room, and on the edges of the table countless numbers of people were eating, laughing, and listening.

To the left of the large table lied open space and a small band playing slow jazz. I could only guess it was a dance floor. The room opened up into a large balcony at the far right corner, displaying the starry night sky.

The air in the room felt comfortable and exciting. Even Odin and Frigga didn't notice us arrive because they were having so much fun chatting.

I nodded my head. "I'm impressed. Pleasantly surprised even."

Loki chuckled,"I'm glad." Then he pulled me forward whispering,"Now lets go eat, I'm starving."

I couldn't disagree with Loki, so I fell into step with him, then took a seat across the table from him. I looked forward at Loki to see he had not sat yet. He glanced at me and his eyes enlarged.

"Stand." He hissed under his breath.

I didn't know if it was customary to wait to be seated, but I didn't question it. I quickly stood, my chair making a loud scraping noise against the stone floor as I went. I cringed. What a great way to start the night.
