The Edge of Drakness

I finish my dinner as fast as I can while my mum talks about her new job in the background, I can't seem to focus on what she is saying my mind keeps going back to my new found powers. Just this morning I woke up to another boring day and now suddenly my whole life had turned upside down. Is this what I had hoped for? I had hoped for something exciting in my life and now I have something.... Is this the part where someone shows up and says With great power comes great responsibility? I really hope not...

In my room I look at my hands and think about what happens next

I lie down on my bed when I feel something staring at me, I turn my head as fast as possible to look, nothing but the shadows...
Once again I feel the pressure you feel when someone stares at you, this time I slowly look behind me when again I only see shadows and the staring stops as if the person or thing standing there had suddenly disappeared.

Me being the curious person I am walk out to investigate the shadows the moment I step out of my bed and walk toward the shadows I feel a presence right behind me and before I could turn around... BOO

Too terrified to use my powers at the moment I fall on to the floor in shock as my heart beats wildly, is this the end of my young life?
