File Name: The Old House
Security Access: Level 1 Administration
Subject Location: Town of {Redacted}
Begin Entry Log:
Located at the coordinates {Undisclosed} or {Undisclosed} depending upon the phase of the moon, subject appears as a house of victorian era architecture in severe dereliction though the exact appearance of the house's appearance varies from instance to instance. During the full moon subject appears at the coordinates {Undisclosed} and during the new moon subject can be located at the coordinates {Undisclosed}. Subject seemingly enters a psuedospace parallel to our own (S-016) when not manifested in our reality, though notably lacks any anomalous properties when observed in S-016.
Each instance of the subject has been recorded to have a different floor plan, though the color of the house has been noted to randomly rotate between 5 different shades: Light Blue, Sea Foam Green, White, Gray, and a bright Purple. The paint's chemical composition does not seem to match with any brands on record. Carbon dating of the paint, for that is the only part of the house that has been successfully transported off site without initiating a situation madhouse (See Data Entry 2307), places its origin to be the late cretaceous period.
Complete research upon the house is currently pending, but observations have been recorded by survivors from the town of {Redacted} and The Organization which has used a number of test subjects to acquire data. As one approaches the house the creaking noises often associated with older houses intensify and the house itself seems to begin moving slightly as if alive. Entering the house results in a momentary end to the anomalous behavior of the house, lasting an average of 3 minutes. Following this momentary lull in activity, the house begins extruding a memetic property affecting those within the confines of its walls, causing those within to slowly begin to believe that they lived in the house as a child, creating extremely detailed false memories. Said memories linger for approximately 3 weeks after leaving the house.
If the individual remains in the house for over half an hour, doors and staircases that shouldn't fit the floor plan of the house begin appearing. If one of these paths is followed the victim is unerringly led to a basement room with a single flickering bulb in the back right corner, regardless of whether or not the path they took involved stairs that should've led upwards. Attempts to access said basement through excavation have failed.
In the center of the room is a hunched over figure in a white straight jacket tied to a metal chair. Over his head is a white bag with the number eight seemingly spray painted on. The figure is completely still while the observer remains outside the threshold of the room. Test subjects who have entered the room have not returned and data has not been successfully recovered, though if a second subject is sent in after the first (Even if test subjects enter the house simultaneously they will unerringly be separated at some point before finding the basement) the bag tied around the figures head will be soaked with blood and the figure can be observed twitching. At this point communication with the second subject is unfailingly suddenly cut off. Further research pending; end log.
Authors Note: Hey guys, thanks so much for reading. As a new author on wattpad I really appreciate comments and feedback, and would love if people could post their theories about the vastly unknown town of {Redacted} who knows, maybe I'll take your ideas and postulations into account as I finish fleshing out the universe. I plan to write a full book after I have about 20 or so of these shorts out, though I thought it would be much more interesting with some background information. I'd also greatly appreciate feedback as to whether you prefer the interview format, or the written file format.
