Dear daughter,
You will encounter people in your life that cause complications. And, sometimes, the person causing the biggest complications in your life will be you yourself.
You will convince yourself that everyone around you is against you. You will overthink and take everything a little too seriously. Especially criticism - you'll take every little comment and think that it is a reflection of you. When someone pays you a compliment, you won't accept it. Yet if someone points out a fault of yours, you'll think about it for months. You'll worry about things that don't need so much worrying and, when you begin to cry again and the people around you console you, you'll convince yourself you're being annoying and then cry some more. This is why the second part of my collection of poems is about dealing with mental health problems and insecurities.
I understand that sometimes the sadness and the stress makes everything impossible but, when someone pays you a compliment, accept it and say thank you. When someone points out a fault of yours, take it on the chin. Their words aren't worth you crying over. You are never a burden on others. Even when you feel annoying, know that the people that matter and truly care about you would have no problem being there to ensure you're alright.
Be unashamed of who you are, and always remember that you are entitled to your feelings.
Love,
Your mother
