Prologue

(Main Character)

I saw you smiling with your other friends. You're my only friend but I'm happy with that. I approach you and your smile drop, mine as well.

"What's wrong?" I asked concerned.

You look at me coldly and waved your hands to your friends indicating to leave us alone. And they did. I look at you confused.

I raised my hands to touch your cheeks because that always makes you relax but you pushed it away. My heart shattered.

"Do you think I still want to be friends with you?"

I stared at your cold eyes and you did the same. I waited for you to continue and you did.

"You're useless" you spat infront of my face. "You're weak and pathetic. I don't want you anymo--"

I slap you. "Think and talk all you want. I don't care anymore" I ran away as much as possible to make me feel less painful but what happened? More pain showed up as memories of my parents came.

14 years ago
7 years old Eulji

I found myself walking through an alley. I don't know this place and I'm just a little kid. I stop my track as I heard someone scream.

"Please don't kill me" I hid behind a wall and peeked. My eyes widened and tears were threatening to fall.

"Mommy" I mumbled, my hands trembling.

"I have children. They're still little. Please! I'm begging you. There's no one else that can take care of them if I left" my mom kneeled down in front of some guys.

"Do you think I care?" The guy in the middle smirk. "All I want is your money. Now give me or your kids will be part of this!" the guy shouted.

"Please, I don't have enough money that you want. My husband died and I was struggling to earn money" my mom cried.

"Well if that's what you want" the guy said and pointed his gun in front of my mom's head. "Any last words?" My whole body was trembling. I started crying and my mom spotted me.

She look at me with sad eyes and mouthed 'please run'. I shook my head, not wanting to go anywhere. She jolted her face to the guy and tightly closed her eyes.

I hid behind the wall when I heard the sound of a gun shoot. I covered my mouth with my hands to prevent myself from screaming loudly.

After awhile the guys left. I quickly kneeled down in front of my mom and started screaming.

"Mommy! Don't leave me please" I cried. "Please! Someone help me! No" I shouted expecting someone to hear it. I look at my mom's face and her eyes slightly opened.

"My daughter" she said with her weak voice. "Please take care of yourself" she brought her hands on my cheeks and I held it with mine.

"Mom" I cried.

"I love you Eulji-ah" my mom said and her eyes slowly closed.

My eyes widened and I slowly shook her lifeless body. "Mom Please" I held her in my arms, hugging her.

"Don't leave me"
