Eren stumbled through the large double doors of Sina High school, a small smile ghosting his lips. The indistinct chatter filling the halls made his heart fill with apprehension, the feeling spreading throughout his body. He wished more than anything that Armin was here with him, helping him get through his nervousness, but Armin wasn't.
He'd never get to experience high school.
"Hey, Jean. We need to get to class," the Japanese transfer student Mina Carolina muttered as she drifted past him. Eren watched her long black hair flow past him, a frown ghosting his lips.
His name was something he knew he needed to get used to. Ever since they'd given him the new social security card and made him change his hair, he'd known he wouldn't be able to go by Eren ever again. That Jean was his new name.
He couldn't help but wonder who this Jean person was, and what he was doing. Why he'd given up his name. It didn't sit well with him.
"How do you know my name?" he asked, catching up to her quickly. She rolled her eyes, punching his shoulder. Eren pulled away, a muffled, 'hey!' leaving his lips as he self-consciously rubbed the aching spot he'd been hit. That woman didn't know her own strength.
"Everyone here knows your name, Jean. Don't act like some ignorant fool." Mina responded. She glanced up at him, her silver eyes half-lidded in disbelief. Eren got the feeling she was looking down on him but, understanding there was probably nothing he could do to change her perception of him, he merely sighed.
"I-I mean, I-"
"You know my name, right? I don't even have a reputation," Mina interrupted. She turned away, grabbing his arm and tugging him to class before he could even respond. He growled under his breath, hating her bossiness already but allowing himself to be dragged.
"B-but you're not even my frien-"
"Do you not want me to be? It doesn't really look like you have a line-up."
"Will you stop interrupting me?" Eren asked, trying to pull himself out of Mina's grip. She merely tightened her fingers around his bicep, eliciting a high pitched squeal from the boy's mouth. She glanced up at him, rolling her eyes.
"Stop acting like a girl," she muttered, facing forwards again as she yanked him off his feet and proceeded to haul him like a sack of potatoes to the classroom. She didn't even seem fazed by the odd stares they were getting, focusing instead on not yanking Eren's arm out of his socket.
"B-but you're a girl..." Mina turned, looking at him quizzically.
"Yeah, so?" Eren furrowed his brows, confusion finally setting in.
"So why are you-"
"Just shut up."
"I'm being serious, why are you so judgem-"
"I told you to shut up you twerp. Damn, you're so annoying!"
"Would I die if I responded with, 'and you're terrifying'?"
"No, I pride myself on that. I would be happy if you said that."
"Then I won't say it." Mina growled.
"Motherfu-"
"MINA CAROLINA!!! WE DO NOT USE THAT LANGUAGE!!!" Mina paused, shifting her grip from Eren's arm to the back of his shirt. He squeaked again, his backpack dragging on the floor as Mina stalked up to the strawberry-blonde teacher.
"Who are you again?" Mina asked, cocking her head in a blatantly mocking fashion. The woman's face filled with distaste, her arms crossing authoritatively over her chest as she narrowed her eyes at Mina.
