The night was going by fast and before i knew it everybody was in the water having a good time. Rebecca and I had swam a few laps, racing against each other as people cheered us on. It felt nice to be swimming underneath the haunting moonlight.

My head had stopped spinning but my vision was still slightly blurred. I could see the outlines of my friends, the shapes of John and Avalon kissing as Zoe,Emily, and Joyce floated on the surface of the darkened water.

It felt great not having to stress about anything for once, not having to be at home to deal with my crappy family. I was glad i was missing the dinner.

I swam through groups of drunken bodies, my eyes seeming to land on Eretria. She hopped in the lake a little after Rebecca and i did. I still couldn't shake off the way she made me feel, the effect she had whenever she was around me. It was ridiculous.

She was making out with some girl, holding her face in both of her hands. I rolled my eyes at this. Was she always a player? I mean it was bad enough she had made out with Emily earlier and now she was snogging it up with some other girl.

"That's so gross." Emily said from beside, startling me from my thoughts.

"What?" I asked, floating beside the latina whose eyes were also narrowed in on Eretria.

"That." She pointed her chin towards the two girls. "I'm a much better kisser than her." She scoffed.

I furrowed my brows. Why was she suddenly acting jealous and possessive of Eretria when all they had was one drunk spin the bottle kiss?

Deciding not to say anything, i swam towards Joyce and Zoe who had been jamming out to the music that was still blasting from the speakers.

"Woah, you don't look too good." Zoe giggled, reaching for my face as her fingers tried to pry my eyes open. I swatted her away in annoyance.

"I'm fine." I complained.

"Yeah and by fine you mean ready to wake up tomorrow with a raging hangover." Joyce slurred through a lazy grin. Her breathe reeked of alcohol. Zoe and i exchanged a disapproving look as the red head collapsed onto Zoe's wet shoulder.

"Okayy." Zoe said cautiously, grabbing Joyce carefully and stepping out of the water with the wasted female.

"I think we should start heading home. It's late and this girl right here isn't going to be waking up anytime soon." Zoe called out to Avalon who swam over to the rest of us. John and Andrew followed close behind as they each stepped out of the water, in silent agreement that they should call it a night as well.

"Shit, it's freezing." John whined as they all ran back to the bonfire to collect their clothes.

The lake was now clearing out and the air had gotten a whole lot colder.

I stepped out of the water and marched back to the source of warmness that everybody was now crowding around. My skin was freezing and it didn't help that the water had made my underwear stick to my body. I needed to get dressed as soon as possible. Curse us for not bringing towels.I struggled to wiggle into my dress, its latex texture sticking to my wet skin like a nightmare. I managed to put on my heels without falling over. My hair was a mess and had been dripping since i had gotten out of the water.

Everyone was now departing from the park, saying their goodbyes and making their way to their cars. I hoped nobody was driving under the influence tonight.

I reached for my cellphone, noticing that it was now 1 am and my device had been blown up by calls from my parents along with very angry text messages. My heart stopped as i read a few of the words on the screen.
