*Emma's point of view*
It was 8:00 am and I was sat in bed, Doctor Adams was checking my temperature and making sure everything was ready for my surgery.
Doctor House limped in just as she was checking my blood pressure
"How are we feeling this morning?" he asked
"I'm about to have my skull cut open an a tumour removed so I'm feeling absolutely brilliant, how about you?" I replied with a sarcastic smile and poked my tongue out
"I'm very well thank you" House replied in the same sarcastic tone.
Doctor Adams looked from me to House
"Do you two know each other because normally House doesn't talk to patients?" she asked confused
"I treated her brother for Lupus and we talked last night" House responded before I could even think of an answer.
"Ok, well everything is good" Doctor Adams explained
"They'll take you down to pre-op in an hour and get you ready" House said just as Doctor Adams was leaving.
She looked back and smiled.
"Is Flynn coming today?" House asked as he sat down on my bed.
"Yeah, he's probably having breakfast with mum"
"I'm sorry for yesterday" House replied
"What for, your the only person apart from Flynn that's ever stood up for me, I should be the one apologizing for putting you in that situation"
"It's fine, I couldn't imagine having her as a mum when I was a kid, she was in this room for less then 5 minuets and I wanted punch her for the way she spoke to you" House replied as he grabbed my hand and held it.
"I'm scared about my surgery" I breathed with tears streaming down my face.
House moved forward pulling me into a hug, engulfing me in warmth and making me feel safe and that someone other then my brother cared about me.
He smelled like whiskey and a strong aftershave with a hint of mint.
My tears were being soaked up in his jacket, after a couple of minuets we both pulled away and he looked at me with his soft baby blue eyes which immediately calmed me down.
"You will be fine, once its out you will feel a lot better and be able to hear better. Sometimes things go wrong in surgery but they are trained professionals, the most that will happen is you will lose your hearing but 95% of the time its semi permanent and last a couple of days"
House calmed me down and helped me feel a lot less scared about my surgery.
He hugged me again just as Flynn and my mother walked in.
"Oh, hello Doctor House I see your getting friendly with my daughter" my mother snarled at him as he pulled away from me.
"At least he gives a damn about me" I snarled back, Flynn came over and kissed the top of my head and I felt him mouth 'I'm sorry'
"If your going to treat your daughter like this, why did you even come?" House asked standing up now as he was getting angry.
"How dare you speak to me like that, who do you think you are?" she snapped at him like the jaws of a crocodile
"Someone that actually gives a damn about your daughter and treats her like a human" he spat back angry from both our childhoods
My mother looked from House to me then Flynn.
"Well I can clearly see I'm not wanted here, Flynn please ring me if anything happens" she said before storming off.
