"I'm telling you, we need to make a beacon! It'll be so impressive, the judges won't even glance at the other builds."
Lukas rolled his eyes. "Aiden, I know I said to think outside of the box, but-"
"But what, Lukas?" Aiden asked, folding his arms. "Don't you think this idea is good enough?"
"Don't rile yourself up, I think it's great." Lukas said. "Point is, don't you think a Beacon is a bit beyond our abilities?"
"I'm kind of with Lukas on this one. It sounds hard." Gill added, leaning back in his chair. Maya elbowed him hard in the ribs just before he could put his feet on the table as well.
"Of course a Beacon isn't beyond our abilities!" Aiden gasped, looking at Lukas wide-eyed. "We've built way more complex stuff in the past."
Lukas sighed, raking his hand through his hair. "I'm not saying it's too complex, of course we could easily set it up. Question is; how the hell do you want to get your hands on the materials? A Nether Star, for example."
Aiden fell silent for a second, tapping his fingers on the table.
"Didn't think that one through, did ya?" Gill asked, chuckling loudly.
"Shut up Gill." Aiden hissed through gritted teeth, immediately launching his body halfway over the table and grabbing Gill by the collar of his shirt.
"OK, calm down Aiden." Lukas said, pulling his friend back onto the seat. "Please contain your temper, we're in public."
Aiden cursed under his breath, crossing his arms over his chest. Gill chuckled nervously, straightening his ocelot jacket.
"So what are we going to do then?" Maya asked, casually stirring the straw in her ice tea, with her long red nail. "Building competition is is 14 days after all."
"That's a lot of time!" Gill said, dismissively waving his hands. "I thought we only we had two weeks!"
Lukas and Maya snorted slightly, Aiden promptly slamming his forehead against the table in annoyance. Gill just looked confused, seemingly not realising that he was the source of their amusement.
"I still say we should do a Beacon." Aiden said, sitting back upright. "It's the best idea I can come up with, plus it's very customizable. If we want to preserve our status as being the best builders-" he slammed his fist down on the table, making the glasses rattle, "-then we need to build this beacon."
"Aiden. Have you not been listening?" Lukas asked in annoyance. "We're builders, not fighters. How do you plan on getting your hands on a Nether Star?"
Aiden reached over, taking Lukas by the shoulders and turning him around in his seat, pointing to a table opposite theirs.
Two people were in a big argument, furiously talking to each other. One was an older man with a long beard, who Lukas didn't really recognize. The other one however, a tall girl with shoulder-length red hair, he knew very well. She was wildly gesturing her hands around as she spoke to the older man in front of her.
"You really think you can afford to pay Petra to get it for you?" Lukas asked, lifting an eyebrow. He had to admit, Aiden was smart. Petra was resourceful, and could easily get her hands on something like a Nether star through her trades. But she wasn't going to do it for free.
"Come on, she knows you." Aiden said, smiling slyly. "I'm sure you could sweet talk her into dropping the price for us."
"I don't know, Aiden.." Lukas started. His sentence was quickly drowned out by the loud arguing across from them.
