Monday July 2nd, 2018 Mom should be getting off of work in a couple of hours and we still haven't thought about what we are going to eat for dinner tonight.
When my Dad and I leave for the store my brother, his friend, my sister, her boyfriend, and our Great Grandma all stay at the house doing something or another. We pick up enough food for the next three days, but only things that can be cooked outside and wouldn't heat up the house. After we return my Great Grandma starts walking straight up to the car to talk to my Dad. I walk away, headed in the direction of Granny's house (I can't really remember why) when my brother stops me.
"The cops came and took Logan away." He tells me. "And try not to look too happy." He warms as Jane would be able to look out the window and see us if she wanted. Then he says something along the lines Jane being sad.
I take my chance to act really nice again in hopes of her returning the kindness. Going inside I see her on the floor in the kitchen, tears streaming down her face, and her little 4 month old Daniel in front of her. Handing over Logan's favorite kitten that I had picked up on the way inside I plop a seat next to her.
"You have to be strong, at least for Daniel you have to be strong." I glance at the child and see that his usually happy is no longer happy as he watches his mother cry. "Look even he knows you are not happy." I tell her.
At a different time, in a different place, with someone else I hear them tell me something amazing. And although I promised not to ever say who I still must say what happened. This wonderful person had said word-for-word in secret to me, "It was me. I told the cops." Apparently the first time they happened upon a police officer after Logan's return (see the thing was he was on parole and was not supposed to leave the county, and he was several states away) they had told them that Logan was back.
Friday July 6, 2018 Jane was gone when I went over to granny's house just to say hi, and when she returned she was super happy and not alone. Yep that's right, Logan got bailed out by his family and Jane's miserable state was finished with.
