Sometimes, Jungkook wonders if he'll ever get tired of hunting vampires.
Then he sees one of the smug-looking motherfuckers and thinks 'nah, never,' as he puts a bullet in their brain, or drives a stake through their heart.
He doesn't even flinch as the woman in front of him bares her fangs at him- he simply grips her neck tighter. He smiles lazily at her before driving a stake into her chest, finding pleasure in listening to her wheeze out one last pathetic breath before turning to dust.
This marks his fifth kill for the night. Yoongi's in one of his moods, so he's had to hunt by himself for the night. Despite his partner not being with him, he quickly manages to get rid of the five vampires that infest the area Namjoon has assigned to him.
He's surely going to give Yoongi an earful as soon as he gets home.
Since he still has a lot of spare time, Jungkook makes his way to the nearest café he can find, suddenly craving for a cup of coffee- which is weird, because he's never really liked coffee. Maybe it's because he always feels so tired from all the hunting, and now his body is desperate enough to try nasty, bitter liquid just to keep him awake.
He's snapped out of his thoughts when he notices a red sign glowing in front of him.
'The Daily Grind,' it reads. Jungkook snorts at how lame the name is, but it's a café and he's craving for some caffeine, so he walks in, ready to order the strongest, ugliest tasting drink they have, and-
And... wow. If he knew he was going to meet the woman of his dreams in this horribly named café, he would have fixed his hair a bit more.
"Annyeong, welcome to The Daily Grind!" The girl at the counter says cheerfully with a bright smile on her face. Jungkook notices her cringe as she says the café's name, but says nothing as he approaches her and looks around. It seems that he's the only one there, save for an old couple reading a newspaper together and a teenager browsing through his laptop in the corner.
"What are you having tonight?"
The pretty girl's light, airy voice brings Jungkook's attention back to her. He takes in her flawless pale skin and warm, brown eyes, and suddenly finds it very hard to speak. Trying to think of something to say, his eyes land on her nametag, and immediately it catches his interest.
"Eury?"
She looks up from the cash register and tends to the handsome customer that has just come in. She has to admit, though the cakes look delicious, she's definitely thinking of biting into something else.
"That's me!" She grins again, pointing at the menu on the counter separating them. "What're you having?"
"That's quite a unique name. Eury... as in Eurynomus?" Jungkook asks, ignoring her question entirely. Eury's head snaps up from the menu to look at Jungkook in shock.
Nobody has ever been able to guess her full name before, not even Jimin. He only found out when she told him. How did this stranger manage to realize what it was so quickly?
"Ah... yeah, it's quite an unusual name, isn't it? My parents said I was really fussy when I was in my mom's tummy, which is why they named me after a demon... which is actually really messed up, now that I think about it." She lies, adding in a fake laugh to try to make it seem more believable.
'Eurynomus' is a demon from Greek mythology that feeds on the dead- just as her mother and father did. Her mother never accepted what she was, and when she knew that her daughter was going to turn out a 'monster' just like her, she thought ahead and named the baby something that would always remind her what she was: evil, in its purest form.
Eury shivers. She's glad the old hag's dead.
"So, random cute guy... who are you and why do you know who Eurynomus is? Demon names aren't exactly common knowledge." She raises her eyebrow and crosses her arms, looking at him suspiciously. He returns her look with a charming grin and leans forward, arms moving to rest on the counter.
"Well, I'm glad it's not, because if it was I probably wouldn't have gotten your attention." He replies smoothly, quirking his eyebrow up. She can't help but chuckle at his blatant attempts at flirting. He's too cute.
"So, sir... are you going to be ordering anything or are you just going to keep tugging at my heartstrings?"
"Jeon Jungkook will be having a large iced Americano, please. That's J-E-O-N J-U-N-G-K-O-O-K, if you think about looking me up later." He winks as he keeps up his cocky front to hide the fact that his heart has started hammering rapidly in his chest (which is pointless, because Eury can hear it anyway.)
"One large iced Americano it is, Jeon Jungkook." She smiles as she says his name- something that definitely doesn't go unnoticed by him. He pays the amount needed and sits down, waiting patiently for her to call out his name.
He wonders how she would sound moaning it.
His thoughts are interrupted by his phone starting to ring, and he finds himself in a bad mood once again when he sees that 'a little bitch that owes me dinner' is the name flashing on the screen.
"What do you want, hyung?" He asks coldly, making it obvious that he isn't in the mood to talk.
"You didn't report back to Namjoon, pabo. We were starting to worry."
'Shit.'
It's mandatory for them to immediately report back to Namjoon after every mission. If they don't, then that automatically means that they're injured, or they've been taken hostage, or they've been killed. Jungkook grimaces as he sees that it's way past midnight, which is when he usually calls his leader to report to him. Oops.
"Sorry... I wanted to get coffee. It slipped my mind."
Jungkook can imagine Yoongi's furrowing his brows. "Coffee? I thought you didn't like coffee."
Jungkook swears he hears Yoongi quietly sing 'coffee coffee coffee~" under his breath.
"I don't," Jungkook answers, "but I like not feeling like a zombie all the time. All these fuckin' night shifts are killing me... I swear, they breed like rabbits. These stupid va-"
"One large iced Americano for Jeon Jungkook, as in J-E-O-N J-U-N-G-K-O-O-K?"
His heart starts beating faster once again.
"I have to go. Tell Namjoon hyung I'm fine, and that I got all five of them." Before Yoongi can respond, Jungkook's already hanging up. He runs a hand through his fingers as, once again, he's face to face with the most beautiful woman he's ever seen.
"I seem to have forgotten something." He bends down and looks around.
"What is it?" Eury asks, concerned as she starts to look around with him, even though she doesn't even know what he's lost.
"Your number... could you maybe tell me again?" Eury freezes at the cheesy statement. She looks up at him, trying (and failing) not to smile.
"I don't quite remember giving it in the first place..."
'Keep it together. Play hard to get. For fuck's sake, you just met the guy! Don't give it to him yet. Don't-'
"Give me your phone."
'You dumb bitch!' Eury makes a mental note to slap herself in the face when she gets home.
