Jacinta sighed as she looked at her surroundings: an old worn brick face stared right back at her.

She picked up her bags (rather, bag, since she only had one-and it was rather heavy) and opened the door. The inside was almost as bad as the outside: the probably once well-maintained restaurant had fallen into major disrepair.

A thick layer of dust covered every surface to the point where she turned around and saw she had made tracks.

"Jace, really you don't have to do this!" Her best friend Hermione Granger exclaimed with vigor. "There must be far less extreme solutions than this!"

Jacinta sighed and placed a hand on her friends' shoulder. They were at the airport and the call for her flight had just been announced over the PA.

"Listen, 'Mione. You know I do have to do this." She took a breath to steady herself and said in a soft voice, "I've never really been one to live a mundane life. I always have been a wandering soul."

Hermione sighed at her friend knowing she was telling the truth. "I'll... I'll miss you Jace." She managed to choke out.

Jacinta smiled sadly at her friend and managed to reply, "I'll miss you too."

As she began to walk away, Hermione yelled out, "AND DON'T GET INTO ANY TROUBLE YOUNG LADY!"

Jace yelled back, "I'M THE SAME AGE AS YOU!"

And then she gave her ticket to the man and stepped aboard the plane.

After using scourgify multiple times just to get the grime and dust off all the surfaces, Jace looked out the window to realize it was almost nighttime.

As she walked up the steps to the owners' flat, Jace realized just how much work this would be and sighed. "Always were a smart one, weren't you," she muttered to no one in particular.

So she conjoured a bed and slept (not so peacefully) through the night.

After waking up from yet another nightmare, you'd think Jacinta would be used to it.

But, no. The girl-who-lived was still as clueless as ever and upon trying to get up and face the day head on, she promptly fell on her face.

Guess she did face the day head on afterwards.

As she wandered down the stairs in her pajamas, she spotted two red-robed men sitting at one of the tables.

She immediately ran upstairs and changed into some actual clothes.

As Jacinta walked down the stairs for the second time that day, one of the men (at least, she assumed it was a man) looked up and said, "Excuse me, miss, but are you the owner of this facility?"

A little (but not too) surprised she replied, "Why yes I am, how may I help you? We don't open for another couple of months."

After looking at his partner, the man who had spoken the first time said, "So are you the magical living here?"

As she nodded in confirmation, the second man, a short man with brown hair and eyes said, "We'll need some information about you to put in the records."

Jacinta narrowed her eyes but replied, "You guys work for MACUSA, correct?" She would have thought they might have recognized her scar but then remembered her bangs and bedhead were probably covering it up just fine.

The second man smiled and said, "Correct. I am Auror McKinley and this is Auror Ammels. We require any witch or wizard living in the United States to register themselves with the MACUSA."

Sounds legit, Jacinta thought as the man who had been identified as Auror Ammels handed her a parchment filled with blank slots and a quill-which she assumed was enchanted for anti-lying.

As she finished up with the parchment and handed it in, both Aurors looked up in surprise and said "Jacinta Potter? The Girl-Who-Lived?"

Jacinta didn't feel like talking, so she nodded to give them an answer (along with a harsh glare telling them to scram and get out of her business).

They seemed to have gotten the message because they simply let their mouths open a bit wider and promptly left.
